Another what skis thread

so im 5'8", 150 pounds, and im gonna be skiing probably about 65% park, 5% just on groomers and shit, and 30% in deep snow in the backcountry

so can someone give me some recommendations on what skis to get

no way. they are 87 underfoot but thats not enough to have fun in deep pow in the BC.

you're shorter but have a little weight on you so you can go with a larger ski, maybe consider the 185 arv, its 95 underfoot. and you're only gonna be on it for park 65% of the time.

really i'd go for somethin truly beefy underfoot. maybe look towards a pair of lizzies. they aren't very tall if you didn't want to go real big but the 110mm underfoot will slay in teh Bc.

you could also take the route of something like the 4frnt msp. at the 181 size you've got 92 underfoot, so not a whole lot but still enough for a little floatation. i throw this out there because its stiffer than the two skis i've recommended already.

you're going to have to go back a few more years if you only plan on spendin that much. one quiver skis like the one you want are more expensive

yeah I was going to recommend Seths or Scratch BC WRS. If you look hard enough you can find a good deal (400ish) on the BC's... your gunna spend more on the Seths...

thats a very good reason why people don't like you. not trying to be a dick or anything

^^and yes! how could i forget BC's they will be pretty good. not really for rails or smaller jumps but whatever, they're super fun

jp vs juliens or maybe the bacons although the bavons would be a little hard to use in the park but that would be cool doin some rail with the baconsbut probably the lizzies would be best

u know what would be better would be the prophet 130's or the fatypus skis that would be crazy. do ya got any videos on that hu do ya ?....... cuz the bacon one was cool

ummm seths might be a little much for a guy your size...if you can control them they would be dope for what you are lookin for....

ummmm if i were you though i would be lookin at ep pros...lizzies...(lizzies esp..) or even then SFB...if u can find em...maybe some maden ak's...they would be dope too.

I doubt he'll be spending 30% of the time in deep backcountry snow. What he will be skiing is probably:

50% park

15% groomers

15% DEEP POW and backcountry

20% deepish snow that doesn't need anything more than 85-90 underfoot.

I know this because he is my brother and we ski at the same place and unfortunately we don't get that much deep powder and shit. The longest ski he needs is 174 and that is pushing it. The skis he needs are line Anthems. Most likely in a 171.

ARVs or Seths. Seriously, you can debate it with yourself forever in search for the "perfect" skis but anything soft-ish 90-100mm is going to work. Go with whatever you can get a good deal on, ski them and enjoy.

In my honest opinion i'd say maybe go for 07/08 Anthems. There an incredible all round ski, 93mm underfoot, light, and soft enough for park and pow. I love mine.

sorry to be a dick and that, but this strikes me as a perfect example of an advice seeking thread where 80% of people have completely ignored the info the guy gave about himself and what he wants out of a ski.

he's 5'8" and wants a ski for 65% PARK!!!

i.e. park performance is most important with the added all mtn capacity. and yet...

people reccomending...

ep pros- 185, 127 underfoot...

bacons- 182, 115 underfoot...

jp vs juliens- 188/178, 103 underfoot...

come on people, pay attention.

so like I said, 175 arvs perfect.

if you wanted to go a bit bigger, 178 scratch bcs

a bit smaller, 171 bcs, anthems would work too

176 scratch sprayers would be good too.

in conclusion, 175 arvs, 176 sprayer bcs i think- or one of the alternatives i suggested and ignore the sfb, ep, jj lunatics...

flame away!

alright then well ill say right know a good choice would be the scratch BC's, I think ARVs are abit to soft but i depends if u like soft or not, karmas are also good but u might find them too stiff like the chronic blends...yah thats a bunch of random there

great post, i agree. i have the 175 arv and im an inch shorter than him and 10 lbs less than him..but i am going to ski what he is going to ski

the 175 arv have a 92 underfoot, and depending on his definition of "backcountry" (whistler vs. new york?) it could be perfect for him.

get it. trust rastafarider.

Well if you like fat skis then maybe an 07-08 Line Elizabeth in 172 (110 waist), but if not like others have said, ARV, Foil, Chronic Blend, Anthem, Scratch BC, ya know those kind of skis.

He's more like 5'6/5'7 and has been skiing on shorter skis so I think 174 would be a good length. Just my opinion, and I know how he skis and what he skis because he's my brother and I ski with him sometimes.

i have the ar6 and the are a great park ski they can do all the other stuff to and they float in powder a bit there not powder skis but they do float they have 82 waist on mine but mine are 161 and they increase in size as u go up in the line
