beezey for fucks sake you have a snowflake, and how many chicks on this site have that? stop judging people. it's the same concept. she's not getting fucking tribal or a lily to fit in, so get over it. maybe she likes butterflies. fuck i love lilies, literally, they're my favorite flower, and people would consider me another chick with a lily tattoo, but that's really not the case. if i get married, it'll be the flower all over the place kind of thing. i buy them fresh daily. but judging people is so much easier than actually getting to know why they want something. and this is really ironic especially after you blasted me for talking shit about hipsters. if you want to make constructive criticism feel free, but don't be such a bossy know it all. you don't have cream of the crop tattoos and aren't superiorly knowledged in the matter either so stop huffing.
 
This is the truth... I know for a fact it means the world to her because she's not only deathly afraid of needles but doesn't handle pain very well. Its not like she's trying to be a hipster and get a rat eating cheese chest piece or something stupid like that.
Is she getting something that a lot of women get... yes. does she know this.. yes. Does she care... NO.
She obviously cares tremendously about it or wouldn't have even mentioned it to me, so i don't question it at all.

I don't see how someones shitty tattoo ruins it for your awesome tattoos, but thanks for openly admitting your assumptions. You should probably come down off that high horse and get your head out of the clouds.

For the record I think the OP and his girl are onto a cool tattoo idea.

I might get memorial tats some day for my bros, should I not because dates and names are played, overused, and unoriginal? (i'm not actually asking of course, I'll get anything I damn well please and not get bent out of shape over what some critic thinks of my tattoo)
 
Why are people bringing up hipsters? I'm glad she has a reason she wants to get it. Have you two looked into artists that you are interested in? I would have her find a picture of a style she likes and a picture of a few butterflies/music notes that she is interested in and have an artist incorporate it all together. For me my first tattoo maybe only just script but I felt like i was shooting in the dark like, what the fuck do I do next. Make an appointment ahead of time and give her some painkillers and headphones with her favorite music. If she hates needles I wouldn't have her hear the buzzer all i can see is mee getting stabbed a million times

I'm not critiquing anyone's tattoo's dude. If you get them that is awesome because they are fucking scary to get. When did I say names or dates or overplayed and not original. I have simply been saying the whole time that I think they should have reasons. A tattoo is for life get something you won't regret. What assumptions am I openly admitting?

first of all, i was speaking specifically about tattoos. second of all, sure you can share your opinions and what not but this is just ridiculous, you're arguing relentlessly and it's just going in circles. it's stupid, you're not even sharing opinions. i just don't see the point, i think by now most people on NS know what happens when you say something offensive. i'm not going to argue with you.

what exactly are tattoos supposed to advertise, any way? they look awful and nobody really gives a shit about the personal message they supposedly deliver..
 
that's why it's personal. tattoos are life stories, as they always have been traditionally. like most body modifications. some people get meaningless tattoos but whatever, in the end they still mark a place in that persons life. you don't get tattoos to show off and for other people, you get them because they mean something to you.
 
other people with tattoos care what other people's tattoos stand for. It's like a hipster freak flag........and I only said hipster there to annoy beezey for the record as it seems she is allergic to that word or something.

But really it's an expression, and who doesn't like to express themselves.
 
I dont think that tattoos have to be meaningful. I think they could just be about wanting to have a piece of art on your body. Sure, they could have meaning, but for me I think if I get a tattoo it's going to be because I want to display a piece of art on my body.

That would be another assumption, it may not be as cool looking or original to you, but to immediately say there is no reason there is just wrong.

I seriously doubt anyone goes into a shop, lays down on their stomach and says "ah fuck it just give me whatever you think is cool".
 
but why display a personal life story on yourself when you already know your own life's story
lets put it this way, i know that i like music. i dont care who else knows that i like music, because it doesnt matter. my close friends and family know who i am and the things that are a big part of my life, so why bother with the tattoo at all? publicly showcasing something for personal reasons seems somewhat redundant, does it not?
but if you all just shut the fuck up and said 'i get the tattoos i feel like getting cause i think they're cool' then that's fine, because that's what it really comes down to. when someone asks why i dress the way i dress, im not going to say 'well there's a reason and it means something to me, these clothes are a big part of my life and who i am, they identify with my sophisticated nature ... bla bla blaa' im going to tell them 'because i think i look fucking good like this, k?' argument over.
bottom line, dont tell people they have to do something that has meaning, because you all get tattoos simply because you think you look good with em. they're cool, exciting, sexy, unique, make your boring body look colorful and pretty, whatever. so let other people do what they think makes them look good too.
 
i wasn't the one talking shit. i was just ramifying your point. i got tats because they're sick, because i've always wanted tats, and i think tatted girls are sexy as fuck. i do it because it makes me feel beautiful and because i enjoy the culture. coincidently, my tattoos have become a story about me, and a process of my betterment as an individual and my route to happiness and freedom and etc. i have friends with terribly stupid tattoos, but i've grown out of judging people for that. everything means something to someone, and whether or not they know it, they do it for themselves because it makes them feel good for whatever reason. there are tons of sects of tattoo lifestyle, and a lot of people go above and beyond just tattooing. some people do scarification and suspension, and stretch their nostrils and labrets, and i couldn't for the life of me understand why, but i don't care either. it makes them happy, and it's their form of expression and lifestyle.

i don't understand why some people follow religion, or vote for a certain party, or dress the way they do or speak the way they do, but it's all lifestyle, and something you're attracted to. it probably all comes down to finding which tribe you belong to. you don't have to like it, but there's no need to be demeaning about it.

btw, why did i think you had tattoos?

if someone wants a tattoo that they just think looks good, great. if someone wants to make something personal, a line or whatever, a quote dealing with some point in their life also great.

but the "quote-guys" (beezey) shouldnt act like they will like that shit forever just because its something "meaningful" and not just a nice artwork. in both cases you can wake up in 10 years from now and think that the tats are awful

i love how this is your justification, but the tattoo on your back YOU CANNOT EVEN READ. Even in a mirror THAT SHIT IS BACKWARDS. so quit acting like you are original and got tattoo'd with a deep life message to yourself. GIVE ME A BREAK. your tattoos are no more original then the butterfly tattoo was 10 years ago. tattoos are old hat and unless you are getting them on your face, there's really nothing original about you. sorry.
