Another Stupid Hellbents + Jesters/Griffons Question

Sorry for all the seemingly useless bumps/threads today, I'm trying to make too many decisions at once.

Anyway, I'm getting 179cm Hellbents. I'm trying to decide between

Jesters and Griffons for bindings. I'm 5'9"-5'10", weigh between 145-150 lbs. and my

BSL is 315mm. Definitely a Type III skier. I'm obviously going to be skiing powder, but I'll also be messing around on- and off-piste. I'll be mouting at +5.

I guess I'm just kind of looking for

some input... by either owners of the gear in question or qualified

shop techs only please. I don't want to hear recommendations regarding anything else -- I'm definitely getting a Royal Family binding. And it could come down to being simply an issue of cost. But I want some recommendations from people who know what they're talking about.

you way between 145-150 there is no reason your din should be higher than 10... i weight 210 and ride at a din of 12 and thats higher than most people would ride at... save yourself some money and your knees and get the griffons

Griffons man, with your size there isn't a huge need for the extra $ on Jesters.

I'm mounting at +5, which is the same as -2 from Core Center. And I'm pretty much made my decision, as referenced above.

don't mount -5 unless the vast majority of your time is spent charging(which is a bit wierd for using bents..). Mount +7ish(core center) to +8, and they will still be fine on anything and more stable(because of the shorter running surface, you are closer to the center of it). I rode bents at about +5 and about +7 and the +7 was much more enjoyable anywhere.

Oh, and get Tyrolias(Peaks or Mojos), or good Salomons(S914s/S912s/S916s), or FKS, not shit Griffons/jesters. They don't control bents well and suck. =)

^And I've already said I'm not listening to suggestions for other bindings. It's definitely going to be one of those (at this point Griffons). And K2 recommends a Royal Family binding on the Hellbent.

Is +5 same as -2? I dont think they are. I suggest telling them to mount it At -2 from TRUE center and stress telling them that you want it -2 from true center. Shops like to mount them wrong sometimes.

hes going -2 from core center, not true. and besides, its much easier to measure +5 than measuring out true center and then measuring back. i know which way i prefer doing it..

According to a related post on TGR, it goes like this:

+0 is Traditional

+3 is the K2 "Recommended" Configuration

+7 is Core Center

+9.5 is True Center

i measured out my 189 hellbent and true center was only like 1/4 inch or less from core center.

no way its 2.5cm apart

Definitely wrong on true center. I know you were just posting what you had found, but that is definitely wrong. Good choice on the royal family bindings, I don't really know what the fuck iFail was talking about. I have Griffons on my Hellbents and I am 5'6"-5'7" and weigh 125. Definitely go with Griffons. Enjoy the skis man, I love my Bents.

i wasnt shooting you. Just correcting the statement. No hate meant.

Ya i dont understand the hate on the royal family i love mine, Such an awesome binding.

I got Griffons for my Lizzies and I am a tiny bit taller and a tiny bit more in weight but my BSL is 326. They set my din at 8 so I'm guessing yours will be set around the same so you should be good with the griffons.
