Another skier dies at keystone

holy shit this kid was from my hometown i played lacrosse with his older brother for two years what the fuck
 
wow i just got home from utah and saw this and i was devistated. this family is from my town and the kid has a brother in my grade. what a sad sorry and it is such a great family. RIP and good vibes to the family i feel so bad for them

And yea you deffinately gotta ask that. Like today I was instructing and had a big group (10 to one of me) of inexperinced skiers, we're talking super sketchy just learning to parallel inbetween turns, still mostly snowplowing, super in the back seat too, and every once and awhile one or two would break away at higher speeds and fly into a bush trail. This happends all the time at my hill, and trust me from what I've seen is kids inches away from serious injury or death, lucky the worst we've had in that kind of situation is a broken leg. I think I'll have that alot more one my mind now after hearing that.
 
Obviously this kid was pretty young so who knows his level, but for most of these deaths that don't involve avalanches, I wonder what the average skill level is? Like is this a lot of intermediate/beginner skiers that are hitting trees and hitting jumps they shouldn't be?
 
i don't know this for certain, but it seems like more people die from smashing into trees than they do in the park. its sad, but this is really nothing new hearing about this. Keystone seems to have the highest amount of deaths for whatever reason and the majority are people hitting trees. I'd say probably around 7 per year that I hear about. Could be wrong though.
 
He died from chest injuries, he had a helmet on.

some of you may think im lying but that kid goes to my school he was acutally pretty cool i went to this thing at my school last night so everybody could mourn his loss it was so sad i felt so bad for his parents and hes the youngest of 4 kids

some dude cut him off and he went flying down the side of the trail and hit a tree in the chest and suffered cardiac aresset.

so ill say what i did last night

we were talking to a a bunch of lifties at keystone and they said his instructor took him there and his skill wasn't at that ability. WTF?
 
This kid was from my town, Glastonbury, CT. He was in 8th grade, a year older than my little brother. He was skiing with his family and friends. I was pretty sure I found this on here, and I'm going to take this link to his family and friends, to show that he won't be forgotten. Thanks for your support guys...I really mean it.
 
they had the funeral today and like 1500 people showed up and it was just a tribute to how great of a kid he was and how bad this loss really is. RIP
