Sup everyone,
The new season has arrived. Maybe it's been there for long on your side, but here in Quebec, it started pretty good so far.
I for sure, love skiing. It actually will control my future. I'll be moving to BC soon to ski and shoot like many already there. I baught my season pass, I baught new winter boots, i'm ready!!!
Can't wait to pop those big airs, ski some off-terrain! Can't wait to go shooting too
I'm looking foreward on meeting new people and making new contacts. Maybe I could have some tips for all those who like the same stuff has I do and maybe I can learn stuff from you too!
- First of all, it makes me cry when I see photographers in jeans and shoes. How can it be possible to take great pictures when your freezing? Stop being so cool and be comfortable! Winter pants and yes big ugly but worm boots.
- I use dakine etree gloves. Great dexterity and I often bring hot pads in both of my jacket pockets.
- Never, ever try jumps and creazy stuff with your camera bag. I know you will all do it one time, I did. Just remember you have many thousans $$$ in there...
- Please wait a while before looking at your shots. I know you probably want to look at them ASAP like I do, but wait for the cam to be hot and worm. The condensasion could make electronic shorts and.... Permanent Power Off (PPO, hehe).
- Always have some respect for the people who were shooting there before you, don't be in the way!
- Bring more batteries. In cold, batteries don't last has long, bring more!
- An Mp3 player is always fun to have
- Talk to people visit the event producers websites, inform your self... Send some of your BEST shots ONLY. Be very selective of what you send, you want to have a good name overthere, not a cheap one.
- Bring some business cards, or paper and pencil, many riders would pay to have professional photos, I know I would !!! I printed business cards not long ago cuz too many riders would come and ask me my phone number or email.
- Create some online gallery of your work to show others.
- Buy a polarized lense. It makes a difference in shiny days...
- I always bring an ice screw (I had some because I ice-climb). I often use it to old my bag up (there are hills of ski HILLS)
Thats pretty much all I can think of. Maybe i'll add some more later and feel free to post any comments and other tips.
