Another reason to hate Wal-Mart

That sucks for that family. Even though Wal-mart is fully entitled to that money, I don't think its necessary to take it back. Its not like they are trying to cheat the company out of money. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.

I didn't like the article as a whole however. I felt that it was propaganda to make people dislike major corporations. For example, the mentioning of the killed 18 year old in Iraq was totally irrelevant and (even as an airman) I don't think it should have been put in there.
 
yeah i agree. although it iis an unfortunate situation on the whole. the fact that their son died in Iraq has nothing to do with the article and the lawsuite against wal-mart
 
I understand and agree with Wal-marts claim that it is out of fairness to all employees on their plan, however, i do think that keeping the lawsuit paperwork that says Wal-mart won, then giving the woman that money is the right thing to do.
 
really i think wal-mart has to do what they have to do. the paperwork said that, so that is what they need to stick to. if they let it slide there will be A LOT of people trying to take advantage of this. it is sad, but i think it is too much of a "risk" to give her the money.

actually target is even worse. Despite their more positive image, only about 40% of their employees have health insurance, i mean Wal-mart still insures a measly 50%
 
fuck yourself. if you gave someone nearly 500,000 dollars, and it turns out that they already got a settlement and you were entitled to that money back, dont tell me you wouldnt get it. its walmarts money, not the families.

get off the "fuck walmart" bandwagon. its a business in a free market society. grow up.
 
That's corporate America for you. It's not like its the policy of Wal-mart to piss on the small guy (well...) but that's what the contract told them they must do.

If anything you all should be steamed at their incompetant lawyer who told them to go sue the trucking company in the first place. If he was more intelligent and thoroughly read the fine print then the brain dead woman wouldn't have this problem.

Or better yet how about you place the blame on the woman's money grubbing husband. If HE was smart enough to read their insurance contract, instead of taking someone's word that it was bullet-proof, then he'd have the money to take care of his wife.

I'm not going to call out anyone in this thread but I think a lot of people need to step back and really think about how many people they blame for their own problems. If everyone in America wasn't so bent on playing the blame game and avoiding their own problems, then this country would run a whole lot smoother and we wouldnt' have fat girls sueing Mcdonalds.
 
I suggest you read up on 'free market societies' buddy. We are hardly in one. Anywho, yes it was their money, but for the 90 billion they made in 1 QUARTER I think they can at least cut the people a cheque and say they still won the case.
 
Wal-Mart also employs thousands of highschool dropouts, baby mommas, old people, and just plain lazy people.

Get this straight people, there are jobs that have more benefits than others. Its the whole fucking point of going to school to specialize in something or just not to be a complete idiot for your entire life.

It disgusts me when people argue about how poorly wal-mart treats their employees. Their employees for the most part are all people who either chose or were forced to not go to school and make something of themselves. Why should they get amazing benefits?

If wal-mart employees start making a living minimum wage and all these great health benefits, then why will people even care about college any more? They can just work at one of their 4 local wal-marts and be set for life!
 
it was their money...but you dont have to use this example as a reason to hate wall-mart, there are tons of other reasons trust me
 
im pretty anti wal-mart, but this is a case where reading the fine print could have prevented it. it sucks for the people in that situation, but suing their employer isn't really a fair option. unless it is for a better health plan. but not to fix the unfortunate past.
 
there are so many reasons to hate wal mart. watch the movie the high cost of low price. you will see that wal mart is pretty much the worst company in the world. thats not an understatement. they are pieces of shit from head to toe.

I bought some shit from walmart today, at a great price! Really it's her lawyers that fucked up, and they got over half the 1mill judgement.

Let me get this straight, they paid $583,000 in legal fees and this incompetent fuck of a layer can't notice a clause set out in the Wal-Mart health plan? People blaming Wal-Mart here are retarded. Yes, this is a sad case, but I am sure there are thousand others that are similar and if Wal-Mart makes an $400,000 exception here, everyone and their dog will argue they deserve it too and 1000 cases later it turns a relatively small amount of money into $400 million.

And by the way, revenues of $90 billion are different than profits. I'm sure you guys can figure out many reasons to hate Wal-Mart, but this isn't one of them. And they are cleaning up their act in a lot of ways.
 
ya its a bad situation but i was brought up by an attorney and taught to read the fine print. Thats just a big corporation covering their ass.
