Another park binding topic...

I know there´s about seven thousand park binding topics out there and before someone comes wining i have used the searh bar.. I just haven´t found the answer to my questions...

So I´m about 5'10''ish and 170lbs average type skier.. Skiing mostly in the park but also litlle powder and trees.. So the binding should be good in the park and for jibbing and buttering... So obviously it should be as light as possible.. But also durable, cause I´m still growing and want to hit the big kickers too.. And easy to ride switch.

First of all I don´t know very much about bindings because it´s four years since I last bought bindings... So my about four year old Look´s (don´t know what model, but it has the rotating heel piece) have at least been very durable, but I feel they´re too heavy (or then it´s because of my old K2 Public Enemys..) for jibbing.. So now that I´m buying new park/jib skis (Line Invader) I thought I´ll buy new lighter bindings at the same time..

My Look´s DIN has always been just 5,5-6 and never pre-released, so I don´t think I´ll need very high DIN so I can get lighter bindings..

So I was thinking of Salomon STH 12.. When I read these forums I noticed there´s two groups: the ones who like em, and the ones who don´t... So I´d like to hear experiences from someone who has skied like over 50-100 days, to know how durable they really are. At least I know they´re light, so they would be good for jibbing/buttering?

And also thought of these two bindings: Dynastar/Look PX 12 TI Jib and Marker Jester.

But I heard so many durability issues with Marker Jester, so that I´m litlle afraid of buying them..

The STH12 I would get with a fairly cheap price so I´d like to go with them, but how durable they are?

Thanks in advance.

I´m from Finland so sorry for my bad english....

I'm too lazy to write a whole review but I've been riding my STH 12's for a while and love them. I'm 6 foot 175lbs and I ride them at 9 din. I ride 90% park. Highly recommended. Light, durable, can go to 12 din, park specific

well ya, youre gonna have to side with one or the other on salomons, ^he like them and I hate them, and thats all youre going to hear. for invaders, i would go with some px12s, mojo 11s, or, if you side with salomon, sth12s. if you are light enough, you might not have a problem, but i have never had a good experiece and i had to ride some (not sth12s) for 3 seasons. maybe 12s will be better, or maybe you'll just have to take a chance. but they are spendy, and for the same price mojos, pxs, or even P12s if you could find some would be better. they have the same heel i believe you have now, and a really safe toepeice.

and yes, its your PEs that you are feeling.

I believe these are my current bindings:

http://www.getboards.com/snow/bindings/Look04/P12%20JIB%20BLACK_BLUE.html

So Look P12 Jib 2004-2005 i guess. At least they look exactly the same..

So they´ve been very durable and never pre-released. But I don´t know how light they are, cause I never have had them separately and because the old K2 PE certainly isn´t a light ski...

And I have never had any other park bindings, so I don´t know are they even a good park binding cause I don´t have anything to compare...

So would it be good for jibbing/park skiing/buttering?

But I´d like to buy new bindings so that I could leave my K2s as my homemade-rail/trampoline skies... :D

But cause I´m going to move the bindings forward in my K2s anyway, I could take Look P12 Jib bindings to my Line Invaders and put some cheaper binding to my K2s because they wouldn´t need good bindings as trampoline skis... (BTW, I don´t need any comments about jumping on my trampoline with skis... :D)

So are the Look P12 Jib bindings light enough and overall a good binding for jibbing/park/buttering?

Or should I just buy Salomon STH12s and leave my Looks onto my K2s?

I´d like to buy those Salomons cause I would get them fairly cheap (139euros which is about 220$) and I believe they´re lighter than my Looks...

YES. that is a super good binding for park and all, put them on your invaders and you will be happy, plus that will be a fairly light set up and you will be amazed at the difference. as for your trampoline k2s, do whatever you want man, but i wouldnt spend a bunch on new bindings, those p12s are solid.

OK thanks for answering even though my questions were kinda newbish...

But now I should find a cheap binding for my K2s...

Also other opinions of that binding question..?

I wouldn't even consider a Jester if you keep you DIN at 5-6. It's just unnecessary and the DIN only starts at 6. All you really need is a Look PX-12 or something. It's very solid, cheap, and easy to find. The STH is supposedly much better than the previous years Solly bindings so I couldn't really compare them. In all honesty I don't think you need to spend an outrageous amount on bindings, just get what you need.

i have about 50 days on my sth 16's and like em... alot. but a binding is a binding.

if you can get em for cheap... soly makes great clamps. Go for it.

Do the Dynastar/Look PX12 Ti Jib bindings have the same rotating heel piece as my old Look P12 Jib bindings? If they have, I might buy them, cause I can get them about the same price as Salomon STH12s..

Also I´d like to hear some weight comparison between Dynastar/Look PX12 Ti Jib, Look P12 Jib and Salomon STH12s..

STH 12: 220$ and a little bit lighter than px12

px12: 130$

so ur paying a whole lot more for a little lighter binding and really nothing else.

what i don't understand is how a 170 dude can butter w/ a din of 5-6.

Actuelly I could get Salomon STH12 with a little cheaper price than PX12...

I don´t know about my bindings, but I keep them at 5-6 DIN and they never release when I don´t want them to... But I haven´t done many huge switch landings etc. with them, so I´m about to crank the DIN up a little in my new bindings (or in my old Looks, haven´t decided yet...).

So now I´m going to buy Salomon STH12s or put my old Look P12 Jibs to my new Line Invaders..

Any experiences or weight comparison between those bindings?
