Its not that big a deal, if I was spending $70 million on a one off show I'd want to take every step I could to make sure it didn't fuck up too

they didn't fake any fireworks. they shot fireworks that were not safe to film from helicopters, so they used CGI to recreate the fireworks seen live on your TV
 
Why are you comparing pop singers to the Olympics? Also, how would I post or see the ceremony with no cable or interwebz?
 
i'm saying performances at the super bowl are lip synced all the time and that doesnt make the news, how is this newsworthy?
 
Lip syncing is horrible whether it's at the Super Bowl or the Olympics. Still the Olympics are big time and the fact that they've openly admitted to faking certain aspects of the ceremony is kind of beat. It's not very genuine or representative of what the games are about.
 
Thats not even really the worst instead of the cute little asian girl lip synching to a tape song they had her lip sync while an asian girl with a better voice who wasnt cute sang the song in the basement. ridiculous, of course they said it was to make everything look good for china but thats awful.

Yes that is but this is something totally different. They had a girl with the great voice sing but then a few weeks before the ceremony they took the good singing girl out and had a diff girl lip sync to her voice. They took her out because she was too ugly. They wanted someone better looking and more cute so they picked a diff girl to lip sync the other girls song. Thats fricken retarded i think. Its completely messed up
 
thats not retarded that makes a lot of sense. Cute little girls sell alot better than ugly less little girls. What kind of stupid ass country would send out an ugly kid to represent them? hopefully not my stupid ass country

i think the deal was that the girl who was the actual singer, they didnt use because she wasnt "beautiful" the chinese put it. and this commercial girl gets all the cred for it all because of her looks. but hey the "ugly" girl was very honored for them to use her voice so thats cool.

because China is a country plagued with human rights violations and communism not allowing free speech and other liberties that we all enjoy in western civilization. they have a lot to prove to the world with these games and every little blip on the radar will be intensely scrutinized.

 
does anybody else see the problem in a developing country spending 300 mill on the opening ceremonies alone? but good luck to vancouver in following up that ceremonie, it was wicked
 
Because its the olympics, and not some MTV awards show. It goes against everything the modern olympics represent. It would be a big media event no matter what country it was in.
 
there is a bigger issue here than just switching that girl. practically the whole chinese gymnastics team looked underage, but they apparently had chinese passports. ya, passports my ass, they cheated. that one 20 year old girl couldnt have been more than 15, and another one looked like she was 8
 
China might have fucked up the image of the Olympics a bit, but that's nothing compared to the scandals and shit that follow the Olympics offical governing body, the IOC.
