Another NS Ad rant

I am so pissed about all these ads that keep messing up ns. Ive had a couple that I dont even have to click on anything it just takes me to their site. I was reading a thread, hit back, then some ad took over ns and sent me to their site.. this happened quite a few times. Plus there have been other ones like the circuit city ad that drops down and if you click anywhere on the screen, it sends me to their site but at least this one didnt take over my ns it just opened up a new tab.

Side note, I know some people were talking about good ad blockers awhile back but I forgot what they were. Someone wanna let me know what they were?
 
I understand that there has been difficulties with the ads over the last little while.

I'm working extremely hard to get rid of these ads, and as we approach winter and sign up more and more ski companies you're going to see a lot less of them.

The fact is that during the summer, NS has very little ad revenue, and with all the extra stuff we've added we need to look to other sources for revenue.

Stick with us, as we're constantly looking to improve the site, and my #1 priority right now is to get rid of these ads as much as is possible.

 
I've had to restart my computer twice. And I got sent to find lightbulbs in Hinesburg VT woohoo. I'm vexed.

I never minded the ads as long as they stayed where they were supposed to, I even click on a few every now and then to help you guys out. But when they start taking over my NS tab, and popping up and playing videos or songs or whatever, thats when I get mad. Especially since the ones that have been popping up open others up, so if you dont exit them right away youll end up with 30+ ads singing at you.
 
I click on the ads because some of them are products I'm interested in such as Direct TV and T Mobile...

(and I have this weird trickle down economics thing going where if the site makes more money than hopefully and ultimately I'll make more money)

all the ads do is stay in the corners of the site, with a mac they never pop up or redirect me, just that one beeping one a few months ago, and the day the adidas ones took over and were between every thread. i don't have a problem with them really but it'd be nice to see links to ski gear and stuff but i understand how it's a good way for ns to make money in the summer
 
Im going to explain this nice and easy so you can understand. Many of us care if there is "pointless shit" on here becuase that "pointless shit" is taking over the "cool shit" so we cant enjoy the "cool shit" anyone.. got it?
 
i dont see why youre so worked up about the ads. as long as they dont fuck up my computer im fine with them
 
once again Im fine with the ads that stay where they are supposed to, but Ive had to close out of newschoolers multiple times because they override it. Ive also had pop up ads that keep opening other windows, so if you dont hit x right away youll end up with 30 ads. Ya that has happened, left newschoolers up while I went to get food come back to 30 ads making noise.. shits annoying.
 
That's how i felt, until Mike Rowe appeared in the middle of my screen trying to sell me a Ford F-150.
 
firefox, adblock plus. works like a charm. it's insane when i go on NS on somebody else's computer and there are ads all over the place. sometimes they're interesting though, yesterday i was at my neighbours (MILF) house and she let me use her internet and there were a few ads i actually clicked on to check them out.
 
I agree with the pop-ups and drop downs need to go, however I will say, NS just saved me $5 on my grocery bill!

i recived a free sample of carnation instant breakfast from ns ads, but i have firefox and adblockplus so, ns makes no money off of my visits but i dont get annoyed... everybody wins as long as ns loses. woooo!
 
Popups are a big no-no... if someone sees one PLEASE take a screen capture and post it/send it to me!

We need to figure this out... popups suck ass.

 
Dear god ns, this is not a lie. I just had a Border Patrol banner ad at the top of my screen. It said something like "who we are"-picture of guys in uniform, "who we protect"-picture of young girl and woman riding bikes. "join us" "US border patrol." I dont mind most adds, but really?
 
I just had a fuckin wi controler dancer around my screen and then i came here to see if that shit had happened to anyone else and found this thread, when i tried to click on it I kept getting redirected to circut city for about 6 tries.
 
I get this pop up all the time, so far its my favorite because it doesnt attack me like the other ones, and ya I get the circut city one and thats a pain the ass, you cant click on newschoolers at all with out going to circut city..

I will start off by saying it took me 3x as long to type this post as it should have because of the Ford, and GM ads that had to load on the reply page. Think about that, a Ford and GM ad on the same page? It is just getting ridiculous.

Anyways, the reason I am posting is because I got a popup this morning, and I NEVER get popups. It was a LIncoln MKX ad. It popped up and set up shop right over the NS toolbar at the top so I couldn't go where I wanted to go. "starships don't need keys!"
 
I was going to create a new thread but decided to go here. The rollover ads are really making me angry. I don't want to buy a ford, but every time I try to go to my threads I accidentally roll over the ad and a big video pops up. Its just stupid how many pointless ads there are these days on NS
 
^yes, that is the one. And, at least for me, when I click the "X" to close it, it doesn't close, it just freezes and stays there.
 
every time i go into ski gabber, instead of loading and having the threads at the top, it automatically loads and scrolls my screen down to below the threads so that some tablethotels ad is in the middle of my screen. its really, really annoying.
 
I love how this thread has been open since August 30th, yet the problem still exists...

You guys fixing this absurdity?
 
I just noticed...I click on some of the forum pages and i get brought to the bottom to fill out a sweet hotel deal...i love it!
 
if I site is causing trouble for all of its members dont you think the site should change?

but ya I installed an ad blocker, I had enough.. sorry ns.
 
What browser is everyone on? I'm using firefox and have none of these problems.
 
I'm on the fox. I don't see popups, but I am currently getting a WalMart audio ad as I type this.

Apparently I have received a $1000 Walmart gift card!!!
 
Get that eddie wall shit outta here, at least products i'll consider buying!!!!

unless your makin mad dough off of snowboarding, then i can deal with it
