Another Kony video.

Does completely not giving a fuck about this make me a bad person. I honestly couldn't care less what this guy does over in Africa when we have our own shit to deal with here.

did you watch the video? it justifies him. Because too many uneducated people are blinded by media. Some people need to see the other end of the spectrum.

No didn't watch it, I just meant in general. Since the video blew up everybody is trying to act like they care about this so they appear morally sound. It pisses me off when some douche posts the video on facebook like he's actually helping the cause when he's really doing it because it's trendy and makes him look like a good person. Donate a dollar instead.

people are fucking retarded. they all take away the intricacies and sum it up as black and white without doing any research.

Its the popular thing to do: gather up and hate something.

Think about the extreme possibility of the other side: He is a threat to the government and their system. What better way to get him killed than to tarnish his image and make him out to be evil. Its how propaganda works and has always worked.

the Kony 2012 video is no different from propaganda you can find during the second world war. The American videos were convincing enough to send people to war against the Germans and German Propaganda also managed to create troops for such a wild and obnoxious cause.

Point is even if a video is convincing, doesn't mean its right or that you should believe it blindly.

Kony didn't really say shit to back his side of the story up. Simply saying that all of his accusations are "propaganda" isn't that convincing. This dude's been at it for 20 years, guarantee he's been behind a lot of the fucked up shit that has been going on. Why would the locals accuse him of doing so otherwise?
Also, people need to STFU about calling people who are behind this trendwhore hipsters. Who gives a shit if they don't know about any other problems going on in the rest of the world? Getting a large portion of the Western world to recognize that there actually ARE problems going on in Africa is a huge step. This could help to get a lot of people's heads out of there asses and get them to realize that there is a lot more going on in the world than their iPhones or what Khloe Kardashian's favorite sex positions are.

btw. this is coming from someone who has yet to watch the original youtube Kony "documentary"

something i wrote...

I agree that what joseph kony is doing uganda is horrible, completely. It is disgusting and sad. But before we go and support what IC is doing there are some red flags that are out there.

Invisible Children has been condemned time and time again. As a registered not-for-profit, its finances are public.

Of the $8.9 million they spent in 2011, this is the breakdown:

$1.7 million in US employee salaries

... $357,000 in Film costs

$850,000 in Production costs

$685,000 in Computer equipement

$244,000 in "professional services" (DC lobbyists)

$1.07 million in travel expenses

$400,000 in office rent in San Diego

$16,000 in Entertainment etc...

Only 2.8 million (31%) made it to their charity program (which is further whittled down by local Ugandan government officials)

What do the children actually get?

Charity Navigator is a global organization that rates charities for their help and causes and most importantly their commitment to their pledge.

They rate IC at a 2/4, that is 50%. just a bit lower then my bio test average. In my opinion, thats awful.

Think 31% is still better then nothing? Yes it is, but a number that low, has a backround story to it. There has to be.

Military intervention may or may not be the right idea, but people supporting KONY 2012 probably don’t realize they’re helping fund the Ugandan military who are themselves raping and looting away.

This Kony thing simply shows the fuel that social media has today. 200 years ago there were less people living on the world than there are now with a social media account. Why hasnt the genocide in Darfur gotten this much news? thousands die every single day yet i dont see profile pictures of Save Darfur.

The fact is that kony has been doing this for 20 years. Until 2 days ago i myself have been ignorant to the topic. Changing your profile picture, attending an event will not change it. It is great that we all care, we all are connected and i would love for the crisis to stop just as much as anyone else would. The fact of the matter is the LRA movement left Uganda in 2006.

I for one do not want my own soldiers walking into a battlefield to die. I am all for help and i am all for stopping the LRA and their completely unethical killings of people. But social media was a bit too late on this one, and i just wanted to bring attention to a red flag that the 10 million plus people who watched the video probably didnt know.

No it doesn't, i agree with you, and since Uganda has been having issues for a long time and no one intervened then, no one is going to anything now. And what are we going to do go into Uganda and just remove KONY, because that is going to be harder than all of the people on Facebook think. He is a powerful man and will not just voluntarily give up his power and face the charges set against him by the U.N. Also since Iran and Israel is about to kick off and Al-Assad is still fucking shit up in Syria, we have bigger issues that the long reign of KONY.
