dont all large earthquakes vibrate the whole earth? From what i remember of grade 9 Geography, vibrations from earthquakes felt on the opposite side of the world was one of the main arguments for the center of the earth being solid.

only the p waves travel through the outer core and mantle. i think theres a shadow zone for both where neither p s or l wave travel through. i may be wrong.

when the primary waves hit the earths core they "bend" and get set off path, thats why there is the shadow zone. and the secondary waves i think start to "bend" when they hit the inner mantle. i think im at least close.
