i got the drill working if u read my other post.

but this time i was wondering this. how do you drill in the screw without dulling the groves? i put all my weight on it and it still jumps and dullens the groves.

im stumped on this one.
 
do what i said in the other thread and the screws should go in much easyer and smooth not needing al much pressure and should not jump
 
start slow and once you see the screw going into the wood increase drill speed and pressure. man that sounds wierd giving carpentry tips.
 
You need a better drill. Get one that has an option for either high speed or high torque. Use the high torque for screws. Also, you should be able to adjust how much power it exerts. Make sure the bit fits the screw perfectly. If it's off, it will strip the screw unless you press down extremely hard, and even then the screw might strip. Lastly, pre-drill the holes with a bit slightly smaller than the screw.
 
its also good if you know your drill well - may drills perform differently, and being able to confidently control the speed of a drill is certainly a benefit - although it really only comes with using the same drill over a fair period of time..
 
yea what iflip said, make pilot holes that are as smaller in diameter than the screw's diameter. the biggest they should be is as big as the actual shaft of the screw which is basically the size of the screw without the threads on it. the key is that the hole is smaller than the screw so it can still have a solid grip inot the wood.

make sure the "x" on the screw and the ''X" on the bit are roughly the same. if you use one to small it wont grip and it will strip the screw and bit and obviously if too big it wont fit.
 
If you have a wheel by the front of the drill(on the outside circumfrence of the drill there should be numbers 1-22ish the lower is less torque. so the drill will stop moving at cirtain torques
 
^ ya i have the 1-22 then a line, then a picture of a screw with the threads, i cant go any further than that. what should i set it as.

and another question. why does it always get stuck? the screw that is
 
also the numbers from 1-22 are measurements off how much torque your drill will put out. eg you set it to 1, it will top out at a very low torque. 22 is a very high torque. the little line is a picture of a drill bit, and is the setting you should use to drill into the wood
