Another din thread

Where-am-I

Hi NSer's. I'm 6'3 160lbs and am thinking about bumping up the din on my big mountain skis (and by thinking i mean scarred shitless to actually do it). I have a pair of czars with dukes and they have been popping off when charging off of small (8-12ft) cliffs. So should I crank up the din up from 7 to maybe 7.5/8, or is this idea full of shit?

should I talk to a shop? because I feel like they wouldn't able to do anything that could make them in the least bit liable. i'm just nervous of losing a ski in deep snow (i've already come close). is this just part of skiing pow?

Have them check your forward pressure first, then make sure your soles are clean before you adjust your DIN.

If you're unsure about it, DON'T DO IT.

Check the forward pressure and the toe ramp height are right first. Even at 7 they shouldn't just fall off.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, go to a shop.

Don't just crank up your dins if you don't know what you are doing. Like Caucasian Asian said above, check your forward pressure first. Having incorrectly set forward pressure is a common cause of pre releasing bindings.

People often just mindlessly crank up their din when the FP is off and that is just asking for knee injuries.

If you don't know what that is, you shouldn't be messing with them. Go to a shop, they will most likely do it free.

6'2" 170lbs, not as light as you guys but you get the point.

As for din, take yours in, i wouldn't want you to mess your knee up or anything.

when a shop mounts bindings, they have a chart that they follow according to your size, weight and skiing ability, they must follow this to avoid liability issues. so it'll be set low.

so talk to the tech and ask what they think about setting a higher din if your going into some rougher skiing

When I first mounted my Line Blends a couple seasons ago, i took them into my buddy at the shop to mount. I had a pair of Salomon STH16's, seeing as the din starts at 9, he wasn't liable to do anything, so, they we're cranked all the way down, below 9.

I have my din at 10.5/11, for my one lifes, but that's my big mountain ski. it works fine for charging cliffs and what not.

My green lifes will be set at 10 probablly for an all mountain ski.

i'm going to take them to a shop first, see if they will be willing to do anything. if not i'm going to turn them up half (maybe a whole) a din. thanks for the help!

Any good shop will just give u straight up advice, and make u sign a seperate waiver that states ur desired din. It may be the way that ur landing or bad bindings too, so u def wanna get rhem tested, makw sure they r releasing w/ the proper amount of force
