Another Car Thread (sorry)

Hey a few of the recent car threads reminded me of the looming threat of a car purchase. Ill be making a 20min commute next year through town, and basically, need a ride. Can anyone recommend any good cars to look into that are safe, reliable, easy on the bank, and most importantly, easy on guy student insurance. Perfectly reasonable right?

Where do you live and what do you consider "easy on the bank" that statement cold mean many things depending on what your bank account looks like. Are we talking $1250 or like $5000?

Any older Subaru thats' had the head gaskets and timing belt done is basically bomb proof. Stay away from any with about 120k that hasn't those done, but once they're done they'll run basically forever, through anything.

Get any Buick with the 3800 series motor. They're old enough to be cheap, lots of room, decent amount of power, and that motor will last forever.

~2000 Corollas and Accords are reliable and pretty cheap. Accords are more fun to drive though.
