Another Alpha 1 & 2 thread...

So what I'm wondering, are this year's Alpha 1s are the exact same as last years? And I know the new Alpha 2s have the different base, but are they a softer flex? I've looked everywhere and can't find the answer.

Also wondering, I'm about 6 feet, 160 lbs and a very good/strong skier, anyone know what size I should be going for? Im kinda stumped...

Alpha 1 is the same

Alpha 2 has regular base and a softer flex somewhere in between the Alpha 1 and Ar6 but same shape and rocker I believe

I'm pretty sure they are the same as last year. The bases are different as well as the core - Alpha 1 has the base and core of the Pipe Cleaner, the Alpha 2 has the base and Core of the AR6. So the AR 1 core (Alphla 2/AR6 is slightly heavier - but more durable) while the AR2 core (Alpha 2/PC is lighter, has a little more pop, but less durable) the S7 base (Alpha 2/AR6) is super durable but a little slower, the Comp Base (Alpha 1/PC) is faster, but less durable and requires more maintenance (scraping, waxing, ect.). As far as size go 182 for sure, the rocker makes them feel shorter.

Yes because it is not necessary to wax and especially not necessary scrape any other bases.

not quite what I meant, you do need to scrape and wax other bases, but with a park ski you can usually get away with not doing it for a little while, while the PC/Alpha 1 is really designed to be scraped and waxed every time or every couple of times at most - do you have to, no, but if you're going to spend the money on the Comp Base you might as well take care of it. I scraped and waxed my AR6's ever few weeks - but I skied on them 2-4 times a week, usually every 8 days on them they got waxed, but with PCs they should be waxed every 1-3 days (depending on how much you're willing to wax your skis).

cool dude! well i usually wax my skis every 3 or 4 times anyways. does anyone know if 176cm definitely be too short for me? whats the bad part about having a "elf shoe" ski thats too short? thanks +k

well armada measures tip to tip. so if your 6 feet riding a 176 T2T measured ski, your running surface and contact points is going to be les then 165 cm. because of the rocker your essentially riding a 165

go for the bigger ski: 182, then your running surface will still be similar to the 176

plus, everyone will think your hella gnar for riding a big long ski
