Anonymous To Destroy Facebook on November 5th

"Remember remember the fifth of November

Gunpowder, treason and plot.

I see no reason why gunpowder, treason

Should ever be forgot..."

An elaborate ruse for their cause or possible end to the book of faces? I expect at least some kind of large disruption and I do agree with a lot of those points.

The countdown begins...

they can't destroy it cause it's too big. i mean, short of destroying the place where facebook operates from of course. but it will be lulz if they do this.

Pretty sure they could. Size doesn't matter once you breach their security. They could wreak havoc once they've broken through.

hypehypehype, im not computer expert but im pretty sure if you make the right virus, you can bring down anything, that being said im sure it is massivley difficult and all sorts f illegal but whatever i'll be interested to see what goes down...

let me rephrase, i don't think they'll destroy it permanently but if they wanted to bring it down for awhile they could easily. plus even if it was go, everyone would just jump on google plus or something.

touche, haven't actually followed closely. It seems they made a lot more threats than they followed through with, however, which could have had a positive impact, like the B of A threat, I would have loved that. also- I know they haven't actually threatened WBC and it was just a bunch of horse shit, but they should shut those fuckers down for good, I would pay to see it done.

thats cause with anon, you're never sure who's making the threats. i could make a youtube video like that if i wanted. would i possibly get e-raped by some hacker? probably. but anyone can do it. which is what makes them so powerful i guess.

yeah i use that faceshit and have my suspicions about it. i do think it can be a very positive thing for society and that it is polluted enough to provide some privacy. I was hearing it quoted during rape trail! i do see where Anonymous is coming from. this is a hack that would prove Internet mastery. f-group has hijacked the internet, which has become far more corporate than in the "old days" since i began using ns again my life has improved. coincidence ? who know

i just read on their wikipedia page and it seems like they have the ability to do this. i wouldnt really care if they killed facebook, but i cant wait till november 5th to see if they do it, cause thatd be rediculous

To those who doubt anon... These are the guys who hacked PSN and had it down for over a month, also hacked visa, mastercard and sony..

ANON AIN'T NOTHIN' TA FUCK WID.

They could do it easily. No doubt. It'd be fucking hilarious.

Side note: In one of the episodes of "The Most Hated Family in America" (Westboro Baptist Church), there's a group of guys on the corner with anonymous masks on protesting them back with signs saying shit like "tits or gtfo", "god hates signs". i lol'd

Am I the only one who wants this to happen, at least for a week or two?

I can't wait to see what happens to all the keyboard warriors and "Internet popular kids" when their main lifeline is cut-off.

I swear at least one person in my town will go crazy.

the responses in this thread are the exact opposite tone of the responses in the original thread on the same subject. further proof that most people don't think for themselves and just follow the first couple posts.

"We do not forgive. We do not forget."

Whether they do this or not, y'all best recognize...Anonymous, the message and the structure of the organization itself, is the future.

Well, I've been waiting for a better, more private and less corporate solution since I signed up, but to me FB is at the moment the only efficient way to stay in touch with all my foreign friends and converse (for free) with my other friends. I've signed up to Google+ but have yet to explore it.

Seems like people who are against it are mostly annoyed by their "friends" who are either update-whores, Quiz-bitches or Zynga-maniacs.

It's mostly this stuff, and I guess I really dont have friends that live out of the country or anything so if I want to stay in touch with someone I call them and actually talk instead of chatting on facebook or texting.

Then there are the people that think they need to friend everyone that they walk past. Basically if I get a friend request from somene I don't know/am not going to talk to, I deny their ass. I don't want some kid who was 3 grades below me in high school that I looked at one time trying to post on my wall or chat with me.

I also hate when people have to constantly check or be on their facebook. It's the most annyoing thing ever when you are trying to just hang out with your friends and they are always on their laptop/phone.

Yeah, those Easy Friender types can be baffling. Some chick, who began studying the same program as myself tried to add pretty much every single person from our school (3000+ persons) so I have no clue what goes on in a mind like that, even less in those who accept the request.

I seldom call anyone unless it's urgent, mostly text (invented in introverted Finland) and the chat is free and pretty much everyone is usually on when at home or on the move, compared to how often people check their e-mails for example.

ok it seems like alot of people want this to happen and im just gonna say i hope it doesnt. i know people can get sucked into facebook and all but i use it to stay connected with old friends i havent seen in a while, or just people i wanna catch up with. id be pretty annoyed if facebook was down even for a week

that's like, your opinion man...I'm sort of beginning to see the internet as a very two sided thing. I hate it more than I love it as of recently.

Imagine a world with no internet, where people actually had to walk to someone's house to say hi, where the neighbors were neighbors and not people who stole your wi-fi, where the only connectedness we had was through mirror neurons recognizing facial micro-expressions. We could have that for a whole week. Oh, crap, we still have cell phones. Better get on that too...

Maybe I'm just young and surrounded by people...OH WAIT. THAT'S LIKE MOST OF NEWSCHOOLERS. Separate yourself from the internet for a couple months and anyone who likes facebook/online networking in general will be totally weirded out by it when they get back.

So you're actually advocating technical de-evolution... Jesus. I'm all for building sustainable and safer systems that account for technical errors and malfunctions and updating our basic hand-on skills and knowledge, but to dismiss it completely does not sound too smart.

i can appreciate what you're saying, but I feel like many people romanticize the idea of a lack of technology now that we live in a world where we're constantly surrounded and overexposed to it. i'm not sure that it would really be such a good thing without it. our society runs and functions much more quickly and efficiently due to the advent of technology and all of the many advancements that have come over the past decades.
i would much rather have the technology we do today, and consciously choose not to use and go about life as you are describing - than to eradicate or wipe it out completely.
