Animals

Anybody else ever encounter animals on their slopes? because today when i was skiing i almost landed on a racoon. it was a really big suprise (of course), id never even seen an animal anywhere on the hill, and then heres this fucking racoon right next to me, it came out of nowhere. i was pretty freaked, but my friend thought it was hilarious, which it was looking back. anyway, does anybody else have a story like this? it seemed pretty weird.

I was going at the top of Lift 2 at Vail going down Avanti, a couple of years ago, and there was a huge beetle walking across. I saved his life.

I saw a moose at Bridger before they opened this year. There's also a ton of ermines around, we saw one air a 5-6' cliff into powder a few weeks ago. That's probably the sickest line I've seen any animal do before, save for mountain goats.

I have:

9 goats

2 roosters

a dog

and a llama

no joke. The goats are really nice. You can go up and pet them and they just stand there and baaaaa. the roosters were kinda funny though

a mouse, it ran across a run when i was on the chairlift, i was pretty amazed cause the run was about 100 feet wide

I always used to see the same porcupine at Crested Butte munchinng on bark, he was huge. I see white feretts all the time. I often see big horn sheep and mountain goats when I'm backcountry skiing. I once saw a mountain goat fall about 15-20 feet down a cliff, then get back up and keep climbing like nothing happened, amazing!

I nailed 2 different turkeys that were hiding under the snow for some reason in the plunge at mt snow, i also saw a moose on the mountian.

last year i got lost and ended up in some trees. so as i was skiing and looking around a huge shadow went over the trees. i thought it was a bald eagle but it was just a chair over top of me

haha was this at plattekill?! dude if it was i saw the same racoon when i was hiking the bumps. . .

yeah the one that we saw did the same thing to us. . . just kinda sat there. Yeah but ive seen billions of porcupines on ridge and the whole double side.

this brings a good story to my mind. I was on the lift one day and saw a rodent ( mouse or something like that) run across a trail. a snowboarder was passing by and did a heelside turn and sliced his head off . im not sure if it was on purpose or not but the head went flying 10 feet farther and there was a little blood spewing . It was the goriest and funniest thing i have ever witnessed

well at mount snow three years ago under the summit quad a moose was just laying on the trail. the patrolers closed the trail but everyone could still see it cause of the lift. it was there like alkl day. im not joking

Ive seen a rabbit running across a trail, but thats about it. I have yet to see a moose or deer on a mountain even though I see their tracks everywhere.

thats sick^, well yeah i saw a white ferret at PC one time, i also found some animal bones in these glades too, as much as the mountain can be our home, its theres also,

I was riding through some trees at Beaver Creek and I went right past a fox den. There was this big red fox just chillin outside its den. Pretty cool.
