Animal encounters skiing??

I can't imagine how scary it would be to see a freaking mountain lion on the hill. I guess that is one benefit of living in MI

i once skied over a frog ....

also gems or chamois and alpine ibex and lots of marmots in spring ...

If I saw a pack of wolfes or a mtn lion or deer I would probably be scared

i was riding the lift up after a comp and saw my dad skiing,

next thing i know there is a heard of deer walking across the trail, it was maybe the funniest thing i have ever seen when he saw those deer and tried swerving around them.

i really thought i was going to be eating deer that night, since he was bombing that run, good thing his edges were nice and sharp i guess.

I almost his a moose family while tree skiing by myself in Jackson, shit was scary

and in squaw we always see marmots in the spring and try to throw snowballs at them

I once saw a deer that was a good 75 yard away. Not skiing, but one time I was mountain biking, and a deer jumped out less than 10 feet in front of me.

I hit grouse flew up and hit me in the face. It was just sitting in the hole around the base of a tree, and BAM. I fell down afterwards I was so startled.

bears and marmots in whistler but back east one time when i was younger a squirrel ran right under my ski on a xcut and i killed him. it was pretty sad he was twitching

Oh and not really while I was skiing, but related to skiing. Me and my roommates (ORDEAL) were chilling in our dorm, and we had the living room window open. A black bear walks right up, almost sticks his head inside, and is just sitting right outside our window. It was cool.

similar to what happened in the TC episode except i was hauling down a groomer at Killington (Upper Dream Maker) to get to the park and this massive bird flies into my arms while I'm straight shooting the trail, probably one of the most surprising moments in my life.

I did a sw 7 to moose tap last year. Stupid pussy moose didn't know what shit just went down cause I afterbanged so hard afterward.

literally thousands of butterflies in july skiing timber line. I did my best to avoid them on the way down.

One time I was watching this mouse run across this one run, it was really funny.

I've seen a few rabbits too...

nothing too exciting.

hiking through woods one time, and a moose popped out 20 feet in front of me. I got the fuck out of there.

Theres some marmotsat the mountain i go to and after it snows about 5cm or so you can see there footprints from the night before. Some of the paths they take to et back to there burrow just would not make sense if they were sober

saw a bear earning some turns in the kirkwood back country a few weeks ago, saw a moose at mount snow last year, a few coyotes at mammoth, some mountain goats in CO. it goes on. you tend to see a lot of wild life, once you get off the beaten path of the resorts.

i've seen bears in ny in the spring and coyotes in the summer at whistler. oh and i've also seen a bunch of porcupines in trees too....they are pretty sweet

i was skiing at Brighton, on Here be dragons, and i had to stop quickly in order to not hit a weasel haha. The snow from my stop hit it and it tumbled down and then scampered away.

Snow Snake, FTW!!!

Also:

I almost took a porcupine to the face while tree skiing. It was asleep on a tree branch. We had just stopped and my friend told me to turn around. It was about 18 inches from my face.

Also, almost got run over by a cow elk. I made a check turn and she went right in front of me. It would have been like getting run over by a farm tractor.

saw an ermine dart across a run once. basically an all white weasel. pretty sweet. there is a section of my mountain that is usually closed in the spring for bear activity though ive never seen one while skiing

Only a moose and the odd furry rodent. I do a lot of skinning, so I always see prints in the snow. Last year I saw some cool prints that looked like a moose or elk (or something of that nature) that appeared to be getting stalked by a cougar. We almost wanted to follow the prints to see what the outcome was, but in the end we decided it was a bad idea.

Haven't seen a cougar in the wild yet, and I'd like to keep it that way.

I saw a bear once. I've seen a bear twice while not actually skiing but hanging out around the cabin on a ski trip. One time I also saw a coyote so big I thought it was a wolf till I realized that geographically that didn't make any sense. I saw a deer when I went cliff jumping once.
