Aight, snowboarding has them. And by them i mean pipe jockey's. Is Andy Woods, the first of skiers to go that way because i rarely see his name out of pipe comps

yea ive never heard his name in other comps, but i never really thought about it, he has to be able to ski other stuff to get sponsored, he might just like pipe better

wrong. woods won the big air in 2000 i believe, us open, with a 1260.

Hey KJ,

I didn't say he couldn't ski anything else, I mentioned that what I've heard is that he is primarily focused on pipe these days.

I've seen his segments, and as far as not knowing shit, I'll go head to head with you on knowledge of anything anyday....well you probably know more about being a dick on the internet than me.

Andy is a pretty sick all around skier. For as long as I've known him he's always preferred pipe and enjoyed pipe the most. He's got the smoothest flairs in the biz and he puts together some insane runs (that don't all end in hucked 10's). He's in the VT Open next weekend and i'm sure he'll do well.

Andy Woods is a pure competition skier from what I have seen. Whoever made this thread calling him a pure pipe skier is not that far off.

While Reedy and Turpin are definitely pipe dominators, I personally consider them better all around skiers.

Not to knock Andy's talent, I have mad respect for him. Pipe is super hard and I honestly wish I was better at it.

I doubt we'll see much progression if for example in x-games amplitude is the first judging criterio over style and technicality. If switch stuff moved up on the "list", I guess we'd see more of that in comps. I'd like that, so I agree with you.

nah, people just need to learn to go big riding switch in pipe. it's starting to happen, it's just a slow process. bibby, ager, turpin, that scandinavian dude are all starting to boost the switch in pipe. i heard favre was doing 10 foot switch straight airs even. it's just way hard and will take time to get consistent with amplitude. switch downhill is the way to go though, alley oop isn't nearly as cool.

 
woods does stuff in the backcountry. I think his main focus is pipe especially for competitions but he is definetly a sick all around skier

all i can say is that i hope skiing doesnt turn into snowboarding. i hope all skiers are well rounded in the fact that they do rails, jump, and pipe
