Andy Mahre is a gate-chaser

Im kind of dissapointed because he was such a sick and steezy skier in the backcountry. But if he wants to race, we cant stop him, we can only wish him the best of luck and thank him for his contribution to our community.

Maybe he'll come back to the dark side after a year or two of racing. Its hard to say.
 
i think he is doing it to become a stronger skier. after his accident he prolly realized that if he goes back to the basics he could come back to the twin tips with more confidence.
 
HE'S NOT JUST GOING TO DROP HIS TWINS! just because he's going to race again, doesn't mean that that's all he will do.
 
your retarted, believe it or not racing is actually really fun and is really really good for your skiing. you fucking park rats are all so ignorant.
 
Its been talked about before. Why would hate on him for wanting to be better at skiing overall? Almost all the pros were racers, he just decieded to go back to it. I respect that.
 
skiing is skiing. He's not leaving to live on the moon, he's just doing something different. He's got a new way to butter his bread.
 
i think it's a great idea, racing is arguably the best way to improve your technical skills... i owe it to racing for my solid technical foundation, props to andy
 
what's the point in giving him shit for racing? if you come from a family that's won a couple of olympic gold medals why not give it a shot?

for all of you nay sayers, the guy can ski park, big mtn and probably even race better than you. in other words, keep your mouths shut!

 
He said in the same interview that he was never, and has never been pressured to race by his family.
 
i raced for a bit last year, and is is kind of fun to do something different, and it does make you a better skier
 
Thank you. I almost joined my school's racing team this year to be more like Mahre, but I realized he's way greater than I, so I help back.
 
Im not talking shit, I thought it was interesting. I just personally frown apon racing, and most "racers" I come across. I mean I like ripping, I'de just rather see freesking grow larger than the race scene!
 
Wow... Hes not giving up freeskiing at all.. hes racing for another outlet and will probly dominate. From what ive heard from him, not directly, is that hes doing a couple races. But i know for a fact that hes working on only one ski movie this year, and it promises to be the dopest of the mayor. Were gonna get alot of shots of him pissing on park jumps as well.
 
its in his blood... his cousin alex.. is fuckin crazy on the gates... i dont think you can hate on that.. i know theres shitton of hate on racers.. but they work way harder then the rest of you to ski...... but.. he shoud just race switch...
