So what? You can't tell me that you have never picked up a pair of binoculars/telescope/camera/video camera with the lens cap on?

He probaly had just picked them up and before he had realised 'oops, lens caps on', a sneaky photographer would have taken the shot.

Do you really think he wouldn't realise he is looking through binoculars with the lens cap on?

Not too mention, Night Vision goggles also work during the day looking thru a pin size hole.

So, to the un-trained eye, he looks like a goof.
