And So I ask about Moment Skis

How legit are their skis? Im lookin at the Reno's but I wanna know a bit more about the company before I buy. They any good?

Yeah! They're sick! The reno jibs are rad skis. They're symmetrical, have a good stiff flex, are light, and look siiick. And they're made in the biggest little city in the world as opposed to like...china.

Moment has their own factory, which really puts them ahead of a lot of ski manufacturers, especially smaller ones, because they really control %100 of the construction on their skis.

So yeah, you really can't beat what Moment's got going for them, and I'm really stoked on the skis.

i thought they were pretty cool.. a kid at club soda had a pair on the dance floor and i ran into him at the bar and was checking them out (the reno jibs). felt pretty sturdy but i mean of course i wasn't riding them or flexing them too hard or anything. looks wise, theyre pretty cool- and the guys behind them (that i talked to) were awesome. just hit up the site or email them, theyre all mad chill.

^ I can tell you a bit more about the company.

They're based in Reno, NV. They rock square tips on all their skis. They offer a pair of rockered park skis which are siiiick. All of their skis are sandwhich construction. The jibs have baby blue sidewalls. They use rockwell 48 edges. They also use aspen cores.

That's about all I can think of right now. Oh and their website is www.momentskis.com

my only question about moment skis is how the fuck did they get newschoolers to suck their goddamn dicks so much,

now I have not skied the moments so I can't say anything negative about them (infact they look sick) but neither have 99% of the people here who are recommending them left and right. These are fairly rare skis and not many people have skied them but the hype is amazing around this place, it seems like every day I see in Ski equip somebody is recommending a moment ski that they have never skied.

whaaatttt? weird place to find some skis. ill bet they know how to bust some moves on the dance floor tho they are mad sick

the melee is sick , i just got them, but i have skiied the reno, the reno  jib and the ruby they all are awsome skis and preform extremely well pretty much every where you can ski them.

hahah, he actually won them in a dance off and had no where to stash them so he just danced with them for the rest of the night

Bishop has been riding our skis, more precisely, the Melees, and as far as I know, they have his seal of approval

And, if you want a rockered pow ski, they can do a rockered Ruby for ya.

And those of you skeptical about aspen core, they've gone through lots of trials and testing, and binding pullouts on aspen are no longer an issue thanks to the binding plate.

Very legit.

Yeah I did like those Melees, but admittedly I was only riding them in glacier slush. However it was a super fun ski to ride... now I just wanna take them out in some winter conditions to see whats up!

The moment guys are good shit though, so at least you know you can trust them! They had a great booth at IF3 (snuck a keg into the theatre) and had the whole lineup of skis there to check out.

they're out of Reno? do you have to ask anything else? No the Moment guys are cool as hell. Just pm one of them your questions and I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help you out.

Damn.. Moment is so legit.

Someone let me know when you guys are having a demo this season... I will so be there.

the square tips are sick as hell. everywhere i ski those skis I have people telling me how sick they look, especially the tips. and i mean everyone from gaper joe to pretty much every superstar pro skier at snowpark this summer

because the people that ARE skiing them have such unbelievably good reviews that it's getting everyones attention. I mean how could you not hop on the bandwagon with a company that has figured out how to make switch powder skiing easy... and they have square tips... and they're hand made...

There inlies a problem.

Our buyer is kinda lame about supplying us with companies that make only twintips because "they dont sell" Rather, we sell only K2s, Volkls, and Nordicas, because they each are larger companies that people can relate to, and they can supply the entire lineup for those companies as well. Hell, it took me so much bitching just to get the Hellbents...

I do kinda agree with him though... my shop is kinda in the middle of directional ski territory...

If we were say, Porters up in Tahoe or something, I'd definitely be yelping for them.

...question...

since the canadian dollar is higher then the us now...does that mean if i buy them on the site they wont be like 100 bucks more

it's true, the shop near my house ends up mounting more skis that kids bought online than they actually sell in their shop, which is why a lot of shops don't carry tons of twin tips, in order to be successful with twin tips, you need to have dirt cheap prices and really an online distribution ability (like jibij) it's pretty shitty cause it's that much harder to flex a pair of ski that you really want, none of the shops in my area carry armada or line, i have to literally drive an hour and a half to find either

But if i'm not mistaking they don't really sell their skis to shpos yet, They just put them in a shop, and if the shop sells them they get to keep 25%. So basically, if i was a shop owner, And i have all my other twin tips that i have paid for and the moments, i'd want to sell all the other skis first and not try to push the moments at all. Hopefully they don't get abuse by shop owners who just put them in their shops to seem like they have more skis and not actually try and sell them

I wish we still carried Armada... they dropped them because they didnt sell...

either that, or the guys selling them didnt know jack shit about them... and because the people shopping for skis didnt either, nobody purchased...

Unfortunate... because Armadas are legit as fuck.

Yeah you can. You should realize that you're getting fucked by your own currency now. You should be able to get shit for so much cheaper now.

Why buy something in canada for 600 when you can get it in the us for 400?? and now 400 us isn't 600 canadian...it's 400!! So it's like everything is much cheaper for you now.

yeah but now the canadian dollar is higher then the us

so if i knew someone in the us it would be cheaper to get them to buy it for me and then i could pay them 400canadian and it would be equal to 400 us (more or less)

and if i bought it online in canada they would still charge me like 600

i think i got that right

So what differentiates the Moment Melee from the K2 Hellbent? I got a job at Alta for the winter and have been seriously looking at both; Melee in 186 or whatever and K2 in 179 (supposedly about 183). I want a sick ski for shralpin deep pow switch.

The Melee is 135-120-135 with a sidecut set back only 3cm from center.

The Hellbent is 150-122-141 with a sidecut which I am assuming is farther back than that.

You can mount either center. The Melee is just going to turn more like its going forward even when you are going switch.
