Anyone know this band? I never heard of them, but I just listened to one of their new songs on one of the radio stations I listen to and it wasn't bad. It just got voted to be put into permanent rotation. Let me know your thoughts.
 
They're pretty good, I didn't know they were a Christian rock band but that doesn't change how good they are. It seems like half of the songs on their albums are really good and the other half are kind of weak.
 
i've been listening to them forever. bought their first cd way back when, and it was good. plenty of good tracks there. their new cd came out not too long ago, and it is all the same. kinda bored me, to tell you the truth. the drummer never mixes it up at all, and the vocalists voice gets annoying after two albums of the same stuff.

but hey, they still get my vote.

and by the way...so what if they're a christian rock band? you thought they were good before you knew that, so why should the way they live their lives change anything, and who are you to judge them? i do not understand. explain to me your thought process, please.
 
they're alright but yeah they are on tooth and nail records which means they are a christian band

come on. i don't see religious affiliation affecting peoples views of artists, at all, unless they are christian. thats persecution, my friends. i suggest you check yourself before you automatically dismiss people for adhering to a certain faith, because that is an awful thing to get into.
 
Settle down. I haven’t even listened to the whole cd yet. I was just saying labeling yourself a Christian band and including Jesus and God in your songs to sell records reminds me of a church gospel group or a Christmas album. No one here mentioned anything about not liking them because they practice the Christian faith. Making assumptions is also a fault of the ignorant just like persecution. Please explain your thought process of jumping to conclusions before you hear the whole story. I'm trying to start a war here since I do not feel this band's music will be to my liking anyways (too whiny, same chords, bad riffs). I just think you need to chill a bit and drop the “I need to defend my religion against all costs” attitude.
 
Let me explain the thought process for you and how anyone would come out with the same assumptions.

In the very first post, you come out and say "I listen to (it) and it wasn't bad"

Then in the next post you say "Whoa just looked them up and turns out they're a Christian rock band. That shit kinda weirds me out"

Just an observation, but it seems that you didn't think they were that bad, but the second you found out about their beliefs/religion that weirds you out?

Come on man.

Do you honestly think that anyone would include Jesus and God in their songs as a means to try to sell more records?

The Christian punk/hardcore/rock music scene is extremely small in contrast with mainstream MTV. If they were just trying to sell more records, don't you think they'd rewrite their lyrics to sing about girls, 22's, 40's, or how their dad doesn't love them like simple plan?

Could it be that maybe they called themselves a Christian band because that's what they believe in?

I've read through their lyrics, and never once did it seem like they are trying to preach like a gospel group. So if it seems that way to you, I'm sorry. But try taking it for what it is. Music.

There's thousands of artists out there with all different beliefs. Alot of famous artists who would label themself as Muslim. yet I've never heard anyone bitch about them. How is that any different?
 
I am not religious at all, but I listen to a couple christian bands. I listen to them because it's good music though, I could really care less about their religion.
 
Think about it, why would there even be different classifications of music if it wasn’t for sales and marketing purposes. Yes Christian rock is small, but still there for the same reason…to make money for their label and themselves. That is the whole point of being under a label in the first place, to get paid for what you do and have them market your band to generate sales. Besides in this day and age with all the anti-terrorist campaigns going on do you really think it would be possible to proudly proclaim your faith as Muslim without getting anti-Muslim rioting? I think not. Look at the Australian riots over the past few days. Although it’s not right, it still happens. I’m not trying to persecute or poke fun at anyone regardless of their religious choices. Anyways this thread is getting way off topic and into an endless argument that cannot be won by any side.
 
good response. I agree with what you are saying for the most part now.

Back to the topic though. I was in the same boat for a number of bands too. Listened to anberlin, blindside, and a few others and never realized that they were under a Christian label until later.

I like anberlin though. Agree with what was said about the newer cd about alot of it sounding the same. What track was getting airplay? 'glass to the arson?'
 
i like them. i'm not into christian bands but these guys dont really sing about god and shit so i'm cool with it.
