my brother did a report on those for the school paper. he had shit about flux capacitors and whatnot.
 
time machine's arent real. I asked my physics teacher in middle of class about it and he explained how it isnt real and shit.

That is why i have no homework in that clas :D
 
theres this sub at my school who is obsesed with teleportation. he said that we can do the first half of it but cant make the things come back. either hes crazy or right im not sure
 
i learned in biology i think it was that fif you travel faster then the speed of light like in space then when you come back, so much time would go by but your body won't have matured any faster, making it possbile
 
exactly. If you can get a machine or rocket to move fast then the speed of light then yes, you would be able to travel through time all you wanted. Now we just gotta get sometingn that will do that.
 
We have successfully turned matter into light, and trasnported single atoms across rooms and stuff. time travel is theoretically possible according to a few theories. But they are theories on the shape and function of the universe, which have yet to be proven or even tested outside of a few math problems.

the closer matter gets to the speed of light, the slower time goes. When you hit the speed of light, time stops for you, so you would instantaniously arrive at your destination in a million years or so. But that way isnt reversable, so you can jump ahead in time, but no way of going back unless you buy a delorean and hook up a flux capacitor and find some enriched uranium lying around.

also, there are some ideas concerning the universe as a spring, and you can jump out of our section of the spring to another via a wormhole.

just a thought.
 
dosent that theory rely on there being more than just 3 dimensions, i think its like there are ten or something like that?
 
no hes right. i read a book by michael crichton called timeline and he clearly explained the physics of time travel in it. his style of writing is bordering the reality and science fiction of life and in the prologue he said the same thing: you can do the first half like a fax machine but they cant be reconstructed at the other end
 
A question about time travel, if I have a girlfriend, go back in time to before we were together and fuck her, is that statutory rape?
 
i think everyone one need to promise themselves that if they ever create a time machine that they will come back in time and tell everyone. that way you will know
 
im not trying to be a total geek and shit, but first off, matter cant be turned to light, or the other way around. also, the whole thing about if you go as fast as the speed of light thing, number one, nothing made of matter can travel at the speed of light because things made of matter respond to gravitational forces, which includes all stars and planets, thus making anything with mass and therefore being matter unable to reach the speed or light, which has no mass. finaly, even with the speed of light, a destination would not be reached immidiatley, and time would not stop for you. light has a speed, it takes around 8 minutes for light to come from the sun to earth, also, stars that are light years away are the distance that light travels in a year from us. this shows that light does not get from point A to point B immediatly, it travels the distance at the speed of light.

AS my closing statement, i would like to say that im mad at my self for typing this much about time travel and light physics over a picture of an exercise machine

acctually according to steven hawking it is possible. but who know's how long it will take for the rest of the world to get to that intellect

in my opinion time travel is not possible.

of course there are all these people with scientific evidence but where are all the time travelers dont you think they would have come back to warn us of 911 or bush or i dunno the challenger blowing the fuck up. i think that its impossible because we havent seen any time travelers laughing at our vintige i pods. and thats enought to make me sure that its not going to happen.
 
Think of it this way. If you were to travel back in time, whatever you do will have already happened in your past. If you go back and tell someone about 9/11, when 9/11 origionaly happened, your future self would be there telling that person. So really, anything you do when yout travel back in time won't affect the future because it had already happened in the past. So maybe people in the future, if they did have time machines, realize this and they don't go back to tell us because it won't make a diference at all.
 
The wormhole theorys are real ( and plausible, according to some physicists), the main problem is that wormholes are thought to occur as anomalies, and can't yet be predicted, therefore we can't be sure were they go, or how stable they are, or how long they would stay open...and there's no known way to open one and select a destination, or travel through one for that matter. Fuck, I watch to much X-Files...I'm going to bed.

there is a movie out there called Timeline I think it is. Pretty interesting and worth a watch. Some really smart guy's lover gets killed. So he builds a time machine so he can go back and save her, but when he goes back he can't save her...she just keeps getting killed in different ways. Turns out he couldn't go back in time to help her because if she had never died then he wouldn't have built the time machine to go save her.

Personally I don't think time travel is possible. To do it you have to travel faster than light (is what they say) but once you hit the speed of light, that isn't going to propell you back through history I think. Light is just waves of photons coming from everything that we see. So if we were to travel the speed of light, I think you would not time travel, but just be moving ridiculously fast. If you looked behind you would you see whatever object was there when you hit the speed of light? Because the lights waves from that object aren't hitting you yet? Yeah whatever. cool story hansel
 
Wow, this kind of got a bit of topic didn't it. Anyway go read ‘a brief history of time' written 20 years ago and still predominantly theoretical.
 
no the way he explained it in the book was he quoted some physicist (dont remember no time to check) who claimed that there wasnt only one universe, that there was actually an infinite number of universes and nobody could prove his theory wrong. so they made a machine that could take you from universe to universe and each universe would be at a different time and whatnot. how they did this was "scanning" the human and "compressing" them like youd compress a JPG picture to fax it. they shrunk them so small that theyd fit though (not sure if this is real or not) something called quantum foam, which is a wormhole at a subatomic level. the machine also shrinks with them and it will appear in the other universe reconstructing them. the reconstruction part is entirely science fiction.

and once again ill be angry if one of you fucks tells me to quit putting my stupid opinion on this site because THIS IS NOT MY WRITING its my summarization.
