Amteur Skiing Photo Contest (nice prizes!!)

Alright, this is a contest that will be going on throughout the first month of winter, here are the rules:

- Photo must be taken by you

- You cannot be a professional, amateurs only

- Photo Must be recent.

- Photo must be of skiing

- Photo must be of a friend of yours, no pros

Blah blah, the judge will be myself to narrow out the results and then select people to choose the best.

The reason for this is because the skiers need to give back to the people who are providing them with the media they see in the magazines, and in a couple years the people sending the photos into the magazines might even be the winner of this contest, they are like the future of skiing media in a small way.

The theme is 'A Picture says a thousand words'. By this I don't mean a pic of your buddy in the air against a blue sky, what the hell is the point of that? I will be looking for photos that tell a story. Like where the guy is, what the atmosphere is like, what's going on etc. etc.

The prizes:

This are undetermined, all I can say is that I will scrounge up as much as I can, accept donations for cash prizes, accept as much product as I can and also, you'll have your photo all over where people can see it and recognize you as a photographer, your own photographer profile on GetHyped.net and the fact that you won!

Some of you won't believe that the prize will be very big, but I'm going to try as much as I can to get the best prizes out there, top 3 get the best stuff, and there may be some runner up prizes.

If you have photos from summer camp or something, feel free to send them to me now, but if you'd like to wait until the winter and get your best photos, you have plenty of time. If you'd like to send yours in now, email me at s2(@)gethyped.net (get rid of the brackets, i put them there for spam prevention.

Just to clarify, this is for dedicated photographers who deserve the gear, not people who just have a cool pic they want to enter.

And if the photographer is 'your friend', get him to submit it, you know who you are ;)

'Alright, this is a contest that will be going on throughout the first month of winter'

this contest sounds cool, but how bout make it a little longer than the first month, i know for the first month of skiing here, there isnt all that much that is worht taking a picture of. not enough snow to take cool pow shots, and we dont have any big jumps yet.

He who dares wins

Well if I am loosing monney taking pics of my bros am i still an am? I meant people like markewitze are pro cause that is all they do for a living, so am i classiefied as pro or am?

skiing is just another way to please yourself without the mess.

isnt it you're only a pro-photographer if you make more than 60% of your total income from being a photographer?

Or is it if you've had one lucky shot published you're now a pro?

Define friend, if i'm a little jibber and i idolize tanner hall can i call him my friend and enter pictures of him?

Haha ^^^... I'm gonna post nothing but pics of me now.

What if they are in blackk and white? Do you have a preference? Does the difficulty of the trick matter? What if we have a teacher help us? And finally... what if we just send you a slide?

also have you sorted out any of the legal stuff yet; like do all submissions become the intelectual property of gethyped.net?

^^ No, nothing becomes property of GH, you all keep your shots and stuff, I'm just here to promote you guys.

Grant, although I'll say 'these pics are awesome, Grant's pro', as long as photography isn't the source of your income or you're not a world-renowned ski photographer, then you're an am.

For the guy that mentioned the part about the small jumps and stuff, I just realised that part, so instead of having it be in the first month, I'll say it has to be from December 2003 to the end of January 2004. 2 months but January will have better skiing. The point being I'm looking for photos with the fresh snow on the trees and semi-grey skies so it shows that people used some knowledge when shooting the photos, whereas if I extended this into the spring I'd be getting tonnes of pics of a skier against a blue sky... booooring.

Anyways, don't post them here, I guess since this is from December to January you obviously won't be able to submit any pics yet. But the other point of posting this was a call out for sponsors, if anyone would like to donate anything for prizes, message me and we can arrange something, I'll be asking many other small companies and stuff if they'll donate schwag or vids or something.
