Amplid skis

this guy who i skied with a few times has amplids, he is on NS, but doesn;t go on much, i compared his amplid's to ym t-halls, and the flex, construction, look, and feel of the ski was basically the EXACT same, so from what i came to conclude is they r armada skis with diff graphics, sick ski nontheless.

ohhhhh.i was just on the website and i just realized they dont sell them anywhere in north america...thats why ive never seen any or heard of them....

Just to fill you in on Amplid,

They have the lightest fat ski on the market, cant remember the weight but its crazy, i think i will be riding the antiblacks in the summer which will be sweet if i can get hooked up, i have tried most of there skis and they are all pretty good,

A couple of my friends ride them, and all i've heard is good things. Yeah they seem similar to Armada's, but i'm guessing the construciton must be different if they are a lot lighter.

they aren't armada's... i'm guessing you've found their website.

i've seen them in a couple of different places in europe and i've never seen a pair that looked in bad condition, the only bad thing i've heard about them is that the "fiberglass construstion isn't up to much, it's only 2 dimentional and not 3 dimentional like top companies use" - make of that what you will, my memory is crap so it could be wrong and the person that told me could easy have been talking crap.

yea exactly. construction sounds fairly sub par. by using 0* and 90* fiber layups, you loose alot of torsional stiffness. that, ABS sidewalls, just seems like a meh ski to me. nothing id buy.

Triaxial fiber doesn't always mean torsional stiffness. A lot of World Cup DH race skis use a Biax fiber layup...you can manipulate the flex of a ski in more ways than one ; )

tried once the black one. light but soft and feels strange under your feet ... like ski boards ... strange felling ... efficient but strange.

Anyway, too expensive for the performance.

if you want style and expansiveness, buy some Boheme skis

one of the park crew workers at timberline lodge, Wes, had them this summer, he also had amplid bindings, he ended up breaking the skis

no, they have infrablacks, infrawhites or antidogmas. i wrote a review of the royal teddy a while back but can't find it now. it rides pretty similar to gotamas (although i preferred them a touch)

new model this year the 126 mm waisted cholesterone and the township- more of a pure park offering

I've seen four Amplid Antidogmas snap at the tail. And two heels rip out. I skied them a few runs, they're alright, pretty firm flex.

i have the 0708 amplid antidogmas.. they kick ass! they have sick pop of big kickers and awesome on rails i mixed them with the 614 bindings and no problems through the season.. hope it helps
