I've been looking for a down jacket, and found a few really sweet deals, but they jackets i'm looking at are only 'water resistant' and i can't find the mm for them, so heres my question. How much do most puffy jackets have, like a oakley uniform other jacket? How much waterproof do you really need for a winter jacket.

the Orage puffy is 20G or something outrageous I think. Volcom, Burton, Spyder all make a puffy that is 6000. I think you will be sorry if you get one that is just 'water resistant'.

I dream of winter.

6000 mm is actually quite high for a puffy (though not for a regular jacket/shell). The thing is, if they make them too waterproof, because of the down insulation and the fact that air won't be able to escape (high waterproof = low breathability, usually), they become overly hot and you just sweat inside them. So that would be why. 6000mm and 20,000g would be awesome.
