America's foreign policy (going forward)

shit storm on its way, but lets try and keep it civil for atleast a little while before someone looses it.

anyway, what does NS think, where will Americas foreign policy go in the future? or rather where would you like to see it go?

lets try and leave Iraq and Afghanistan out of this. (as much as possible)

for example, does the United States have a moral obligation to stop genocide when it happens in Africa?

Does the United States owe the less fortunate people of the world police protection when the national interests of the United States are not at stake?

dont get me wrong, im far from Hillary Clinton, but our generation NS will be taking the reigns of power in more ways than one, sooner than any of us can imagine.

In Justin's perfect world the United States would take a very reserved, isolationist military presence in the world. the bad players would know we mean business and their own personal hell will come true if they aggravate us enough.

However at the same time other countries problems are their own. But this brings in a moral question. Should the United States stop mass murder when it happens?

lets armchair this shit NS! hahaha

The United States only has a moral obligation to stop genocide if there is a vast quantity of natural resources we can control

Yeah, this seems to be our current government policy.
i don't think our government should be involved in telling other governments how to run their countires. as far as stopping/controlling mass genocide.... i believe our country should stay in it's own corner. our money (or debt rather) should be spent on problems at home, not other country's problems.

I think that the US can't afford to be an ostrich with it's head in the sand. Isolationism is all well and good, but at some point we need to step in. I think we should definitely favor economic sanctions when dealing with these sorts of situations; however, if push comes to shove, we need to have the balls to step in with force. Where we draw this line between peaceful and violent solutions is what we should be focused on determining (in my opinion).
