It is hard not to generalize when the majority of the population supports bush..which says to me the majority are ignorant white trash, or rich enough not to give a fuck about the rest of the world. But..for all the reasons there are the hate america...there's plenty of reasons to like em. Where was the internet invented? Who makes the most advances in medicine? Who makes the largest contributions to poor countries (though i find that ironic since it's primarily american corporations that keep the poor countries struggling when they could be helping)? The question is...how many contributions does one need to make, to right all the fuck ups?

you can say America is diverse becuase there are a bunch of people in America who look different and practice different religions, but immigrants are assimilated into America culture and adopt the warped American values. I think of America and cocky and ignorant are two words that come to mind. The steam engine and car were invented in england. The majority of the world dislikes the US irishdrink, get over it. I hope the politcians aern't as blinded by their self assurance as to think the US position as all powerful is a permanent position. China is building up and has even challenged US power recently. By 2020, China will be more powerful than the US.

 
Eh.. it's really hard to say 'you can thank this country for this invention', because in just about every case, they wouldn't have been able to do it at all if not for preliminary steps made by people from other countries. So that's kind of a moot point.

By the way, I Irishdrink's blind nationalism is a perfect example of what scares people about America. Do you realize what happened the last time a country thought that way? Just...disturbing how close you're coming. People hate the US for so many reasons, but the fact that fear is one of the big ones speaks volumes. Seriously... The US needs to completely eliminate the tendency of its citizens to immediately assume that it's the greatest nation on Earth. It's not doing any good. It's not patriotism, either, though it's often mistaken for patriotism, which is most of the problem. That kind of judgement, 'our country is better than yours', should never be made.

Also, the whole 'melting pot' thing you guys have going is extremely arrogant. It's pretty damned ethnocentric.

I'm curious, what reasons do those of you who hate Americans have for hating us? Sure, there millions of mother fuckers who fit those stereotypes listed above, however that's maybe just a fraction of our entire population. How many Americans have you actually met in person that you just hated? I've traveled over seas and was pleasantly suprised with how I was treated being a tourist from the USA. You can be sure as shit I wasn't going around saying I'm from Canada.

i've never seen such blind egotistical ethnocentrism. cultures around the globe do in fact hate americans. it is, perhaps, an unfair generalization based upon the actions taken by a select few, but a real generalization nontheless. honestly, this blind 'patriotism' frightens me and if it continues, americans may find themselves goose-stepping through the daisies singing the praises of john ashcroft.
