questions?

This thread should be titled Mexicans vs. People From California. Because that is what we just saw there.

Wow, biased much? Not really gonna argue over the internet about it, but here's a pretty good highlight video of some football plays

world football is much much bigger and better than american football will ever be. people who think the opposite dont really understand the number of leagues in some areas and the popularity.

yeah but american football players are a whole bunch of pussy's compared to rugby players, rugby players tape down there ears so they don't get ripped off during a game.

To me american football in general is more interesting than football. But still in football World Championships and European Championships destroy american football. Also Bundesliga is kickass. And if we're talking about fans of course football fans are more hardcore, it cant be denied.

Not at all. Sure American Football impacts look big, but they're wearing fucking helmets, shoulder pads, cups etc. The risks of committing to a solid tackle in football are much greater than the same in American Football. Broken legs/ankles, torn knee ligaments/ being trampled on etc in football vs. being a little bit winded through solid padding in American Football.

And then of course there is the fact that American Football is the dullest fucking sport on the planet. Plays last a few seconds. The players spend more time walking to, and setting up set pieces than they actually do playing the sport.

haha you're funny. pads protect the hitter. meaning you can hit someone harder and in a more dangerous way with pads on. (ie leading with your head). the violence and force in helmet to helmet collisions in football has no match in any other sport. not rugby, not hockey, nothing.
also the pad argument is moot cause hockey players wear pads and nobody is questioning how badass they are. they just don't lead with their heads when they hit.
i sort of laugh when i watch rugby hits. football is so much faster than rugby and the guys are so much bigger. We all know F=ma, the force of the hits is so much greater in football. even hockey has bigger hits than rugby.
Also football is the most cerebral sport out there. There is a lot of breaks in the action but there is a lot going on in between plays, strategy wise. More strategy and planning goes into football than any other sport. The QB position is the most cerebral position in sports. All that information has to be processed and a decision made before getting crushed from your blindside by a fullspeed 350lb d-lineman who can still run a 4.7 40. Someone find me another position that's as difficult mentally and physically as that.

I dont know if you have ever played football. but pads are not, your going to feel that hit. and you are going to feel its going to hurt

lets not be fucking retarded. american football hits contain a fair amount more force than rugby, but american football players wear pads. people who play both sports professionally are tough as shit. soccer requires a ridiculous amount of stamina, athleticism, and finesse. stop arguing about which ones are better or have more merit.

american football would probably be the best sport if it wasn't so damn long. i mean, one ten second play takes 2 minutes to set up and run, then if theres a flag or review, thats another minute or 2. it just takes way too long.

when i play real football, i'm a goalkeeper, which if you ask me, is one of the toughest positions there is in sports. You don't have all the running, but instead you get to dive head/hands first into someone's legs as they wind up to unleash the hardest shot they can.

you've obviously never played american football. It is really really violent, and you feel every hit. And really, american football is the dullest sport? In soccer there is like, one goal every 45 mins, and the rest of it just the players running around/faking injuries. i do respect that you need lots of endurance for soccer though, and i'm not bashing them as athletes, the sports are just not comparable.

Are you fucking retarded?

It's people like you, that make this world a bad place. You start a stupid argument that is obviously going to start a flame war. It's something that is argued every week, the whole idea of this thread is absolutely full retard, I hope you feel bad.

that's not true at all. the hitting techniques are entirely different. in rugby, you have to be incredibly fundamentally sound. in football, you can essentially just launch yourself at people with zero regard for personal well-being, which results in the devastating hits that we see. in football, you have quarterbacks getting blindsided, receivers getting blasted in mid air, and defenses players getting absolutely smashed. Rugby is brutal, no doubt about it, the risk of injury is so much higher, but to say that american football players are pussies is just silly. The style of play in both sports is entirely different, which leads to completely different styles of hitting.

look at this, greg jennings scores a touchdown with a broken leg. pussy? i think not.

Fuck the 2nd video got deleted. It was a riot police guy getting a barrel landing on him in a soccer stadium

I have played both at a decently high competitve level, both are very violent in their own ways. Football collisions are much greater than rugby but rugby has more constant hitting, tackling etc. I felt pretty sore the next day after a football game, and I feel pretty sore after rugby matches. There is SO much more strategy in football, not saying there isnt in rugby but just a lot different. Why cant people just like the two sports as that, two different sports. I am super excited to see rugby growing here in the states though!

This so much. Also with the commercial breaks, I honestly dont remember the last time i watched a full american football game. Thats part of the reason i watch so much soccer. Pretty much no commercial breaks except at halftime. And they always end on time.
