now dont go and say that the canadian army is still using the same guns as they were when we b>beat

Are you asking who would win? if you are then American army hands down seeing that the weapons we have now are so devestating its ridiculous

Its rather simple.

The American millitary comes to us to find out where the country they want to bomb is.

We tell them out of fear they will turn on us.

They bomb the crap out of said counrty.

We go clean up and begin the role of peacekeeping.

*Process Repeats*

Canada doesn't start war, so obviously our Army sucks compaired to the US who've been in war for 6 years

I wouldnt say that iran and iraq could be called successes seeing that we helped set up a government and police squads... also for this last elesction more voters in iraq came out then ever before. There are alot of things wrong in the war today and things I don't agree with but I don't think you can say we've been losing the war.

American army probably has more funding and a greater population to select from therefore they are better.

seriously jcpow? why the pointless threads? you already get enough hate, why bring more on yourself?

It's called guerilla warfare, you ignorant fuck. We Americans did it to the British, a far superior army, during the Revolution, and the Vietnamese did it to us in the late 60's and early 70's. Don't fucking tell me that we are "losing a war to a bunch of arabs running around with no military training and shitty weapons" because our military is attempting to REDUCE civilian casualties, and that's hard when you have two 7-year-old boys; one who is looking for food and one who has a fucking bomb strapped to his chest.

So don't fucking tell me we are losing the war, because, quite frankly, there is no winning.

It really is sick that the American people are so ignorant to not learn from the past.

Anyway this thread makes no sense. Canada is much smaller and keeps a much smaller standing army than the US.

Its weird how all these people equate standing army size with national defense. Closing army bases should be looked at as a good thing.

137 highest, 19 lowest. hardly losing the war.

as of june 2007 we had 166,000 troops currently occuping iraq. the total death count is 3,729.and that's since the war started.

c'mon, we are winning. media is one hell of a magician, don't be fooled by the trickery.

there will be peace in iraq and the middle east, it's gonna take a lot of time and death to relieve the situation though.

if you were a powerful person in that region, would you want to abide to new laws that cost you money? all for the welfare of some people you don't truely care about? probably not. so it would cost you less to fight the new laws than accept them.

if fighting for the right of the inhabbitants to live a life you and i are allowed to live is a waste to you, then i believe you should move to that country or one like it.

sorry bro.

its pretty obvious the american army. the marines are probably the best soldiers in the history of man kind in terms of what a soldier would be judged on today

WHAT!? Canada.. Like the country is smaller or like the army!? Cause last I checked... Canada was the 2nd largest country in the world...

Military strength is a term that describes a quantification or reference to a nation's standing military forces or the capacity for fulfillment of that military's role. For example, the military strength of a given country could be interpreted as the number of individuals in its armed forces, the destructive potential of its arsenal, or both. For example, while China and India maintain the largest armed forces in the world, the U.S. Military is considered to be one of the world's strongest, although the certainty of such a claim cannot be ascertained without a detailed analysis of opposing military forces in relation to one another as well as taking into account the field(s) of battle and tactics used in such a conflict.

Canada is under the United Kingdom. Although Canada is a young and small country in comparison to many other countries it true that the Snow Birds (jet fighters) beat out the Americans!

The above statement doesn't really matter in the context of things. American, Canadian, British or our allies, it takes ALL OF US to win a war against our enemies. By fighting amongst ourselves it resolves nothing and only shows up each country as being fools. If we can't get along together then how can we even begin to win a war!

I hate the Iraq war....

BUT stating that the people we are fighting there are "a bunch of arabs running around in flip flops and turbans with no military training and shitty weapons" is pretty fucking wrong.

A lot of them have been trained to shoot, fight, etc, etc. A ton of them have been to terrorist training camps that teach them how to be effective gorilla soldiers, which they are.

They are hard to fight, as we have been seeing for the last 6 years. We are having a ton more trouble with the gorilla fighters than we ever did and would have with the Iraqi Army.

And last....the weapons they have aren't all shitty. A lot of coming in thru other countires (Iran & Syria) and, not sure if you saw, but the US Army just lost track (yes....lost track) of 190,000 AK-47's and pistols that were supposed to be going to the new Iraqi Army. OPPS. They are worried a lot of those guns may have fallen into the wrong hands....So yeah, they are better armed than you think.

Either way, the whole situation is a clusterfuck.

And comparing the American to Canadian army is also sort of stupid....

I really think you would be surprised how well trained some of them are.

Weapons wise, they don't have the larger weapons (Tanks, gunships, planes) that the US does, but those weapons are not winning the war.

It is the soldiers on the streets in poorly armoured humvees who are fighting this war now. And they are just as exposed in many cases as the insurgents. Granted, the US army obviously has the advantage, but I think saying the force fighting them is not well trained or armed is just incorrect, that is all. And as I said, the weapons being used by many of the insurgency as just as good in many cases as the guns being used by the US army. The M-4/M-16 is not the best gun for that environment. The sand affects it too much. The AK is a much better weapon in that environment. It fired a bigger (although slower) round too (5.56 vs. 7.62). Sadly, H&K developed a sweet new carbine (HK416) that is much more reliable than the M-4, yet the army went thru and ordered another huge thing of M-4s....don't get it. But that is the army for you.

whats the difference between land mass and area beside bodies of water. Canada has the second largest land mass.

I was referring to population and whoever said that most civilians are killed by suicide bombers is totally incorrect. The overwhelming majority of civilian deaths are caused by us troops.

how can you defeat an enemy that blends into the crowd?

the american army has a bad track record against guerilla warfare.

and as for training, i understand that the canadian army vs regular american army, the canadian army has the better training. i heard its on par with the training that american army rangers get.

Well, I'm going to have to say that the American government is more interested in victory and conquest than helping. Like, when is the US not involved in war? Its great to help smaller countries that dont have the benifit of a strong defence system, but seriously. World War II, Koreon War, Cold War(more of an altercation), Vietnam, Gulf War, Afghanistan, Iraq....and probably some I missed.

For the most part, Canada took part in many of these wars due to loyalty for Britian. Whats the US's reason?

How many popluations/religions/countries hate Canada? Granted, there may be a few, but not as many that dislike the US. As much as some Americans will deny it, the general view is that the US government tends to stick thier nose in others people's business.

Here's another one most of you wont like. Did you know, that its pretty common to find american tourists backpacking through Europe with CANADIAN patches on thier backpacks so thier odds of being picked up increase. Its proven.

Even on a ski site I can see the arogance of some Americans. Just because you live in the states, doesnt mean you have to suport the war. Some of you are defending the cause as much as you can. Lets face it. You CAN NOT BEAT TERRORISM. You just cant. There will always be more terrorists, and, by fighting them, your just adding more fuel to the fire.

Mercer, I like you,but that statement is just incorrect.

"Peace" and "Middle-East" have never belonged together, and likely never will.

There has ALWAYS been violence and hatred in the Middle East for thousands of years. You simply have too many groups with dissimilar ideas in one area that each think their idea is supreme, and more important than the others.

Sad, yet true.

I don't think there will EVER be peace in that region, until they all kill each other and there is noone left living there.

Are you actually serious? Its pretty obvious your American.

Do you even know what it was like to be a soldier in Ancient times. It was WAY for physically demanding. You had to be stronger, walk/ride on horseback instead of planes and hummers, carry much heavier supplies, and just be tougher in general. All sodiers today are HUGE pussies copared to a soldier back then.

Also, back then, it was the ultimate honour to die for your leader. Today, soldiers fear death. Back then, they embraced it, prayed for it, and saw it as an eventuality.

Stop being so arrogant about your damn country. The US has more eneniems than they need. There are other people than Americans in this world. Learn about them.

i don't know about that i'd call lugging a 150 pound pack through 100+(38 celsius) degree weather as pretty bad ass all the while knowing that you're next step could be your last (land mine) personally i find that the ancient cultures embellished in stating how bad ass their warriors are in order to glorify their cultures.

I know a little bit more about it seeing as my brother is a graduate from the us naval academy at annapolis and is now a navy seal, one of the most feared fighting forces ever formed. Do you really think that some iraqi's aren't going to shit their pants when they see a battalion of marines heading straight for them?

I also recall news stories stating that many of Iraq's militia's put down their weapons and turned themselves into the u.s. troops BEFORE the invasion even began.

The u.s. definitely has the best technology on it's side (minus the m4's and m16's cause they do suck in the desert). Soon the JSF and F-22's will be operational making the maneuverability and stealth of other modern fighters laughable.

Now I do agree that the war in Iraq is somewhat of a waste or the u.s. is there for the wrong reasons blah blah blah, but i'd really like you to say that to a marine face to face.

oh and about 50% of canadian defenses rely on american facilities also there is a joint operation of canadian and us forces at norad which controls the airways and us nukes and canadian military air traffic soo oh and ps 1,000

haha you got that. And not all soldiers from antiquity were savages. Some were scared out of their minds. They didn't know anything, many of them were draft farmers. Thats why the civilizations that brought disciplined soldiers to the battlefield forged empires. The US soldiers of today are disciplined soldiers, and since they have more education than the average American, they also know why they are fighting. They go through vigorous training that I would bet you wouldn't last in for three days.

The Iraqis shit their pants when they knew marines were coming for them. Many officers simply surrendered as soon as the invasion was declared.

The only casualties are being caused by cowards who plant road side bombs because they would piss themselves if they had to face US military head on. Or they do suicide bombings, which are even more cowardly because they're killing themselves before the Marines can fuck them up.

That being said, I'm fucking stoned, and I agree that the war in Iraq was a waste of American resources and money. Those people deserve Saddam.

agree'd....but you gotta have hope. i don't wanna think that none of those people think logically. i have a couple of friends form that region, fresh off the boat. the stories they tell are fucking amazing. with one his sister was blown up right outsde his house after school, not by americans.

There are some easily swayed individuals conducting themselves in the way the news shows....however there are a shitload of normal law abiding citizens there and their lives are getting fucked up.

I do agree with you that this isn't going to just happen overnight. it's going to be a long process...one we won't live to see. human's are slowly catching onto the peace idea...it's hard to accept a new way of life. but being born into the adjustments will eventually assure it happens. all it takes is constant effort, but like i said, don't expect to see shocking results in our lifetime.

it's a damn shame. anyway back to the real topic.

USA USA USA (thinking of mighty ducks 2)....fuck iceland (canada) we've got Emilio Estevez.
