i can't say i am 100% knowledgeable about the state of the u.s. right now, but the stuff i do know is still fucked up. no matter how broad my perspective gets, its still going to be there. while the states is obviously a better place to be than the sudan, pointing that out doesn't change its faults, it can still be criticized where there is a place for it, which there obviously is.

It really puts it in to perspective, doesn't it? I met a lot of international students in grad school (primarily from Africa) and it's crazy to hear some of their stories. It really made me appreciate my situation that much more.
