national healthcare isnt that great...there are many problems with it. number 1 there are crazy waiting lists. you might have to wait a week before you could see a doctor if you have angina for example, which isnt good, lol. private healthcare does suck in that we have many uninsured, but when we need care it is there instantly.

i spent all of last summer traveling all throughout europe studying the different types of health care systems. we all came into the abroad study with the idea that the US's healthcare system sucked because there was 40 million people uninsured. But come to find out there are many problems associated with a national(free to all) healthcare system. first of all even in countries that have national healthcare, there is still a private sector(the entire US system is private sectors) because when the wealthier people need medical attention they do not want to sit and wait on a list so that they can see a doctor....they instead cough up the change to get private insurance(ie the entire usa), which causes people on national healthcare to have to pay more taxes putting them further down the economic ladder. INFACT alot of wealthy in the UK and in other parts of euro actually come to the US for medical attention so they dont have wait a week to get their heart pains check on, lol. National healthcare systems are also losing doctors like crazy(most come to the USA) because when there is no private healthcare insurance doctors get paid teachers salaries. so there becomes a lack of doctors and the waiting lists continue to stretch out and people are put at greater risk. also national healthcare has limited financial resources so health care technology, facilities etc are fair to poor in countries with national healthcare. we looked at the most advanced hospital in europe and it was truly disturbing even when compared to a seemingly lacking hospital in the states. in all of europe the netherlands have the best system (with switzerland somewhat close behind) in addition to euthanasia the netherlands have a national healthcare system, BUT the goverment actually will pay for you to travel abroad so that you dont have to be put on a waiting list if the illness/or possibility of, is deemed threatening. and thus far it has been very successful. its all about finding a happy medium. the states have the TOPNOTCH state of the art healthcare facilities, but there are also 40 million people without health insurance, and many people see that as a problem. (understand a large number of the uninsured are college students). the problem that you have to deal with is do you want the best care for more than half of the people or do you want lesser quality of care for the entire population? its a though question and so far the netherlands have taken the best approach. do just say well shit everyone should have healthcare even if it is a shitty care...you have to imagine if you are sick and having chest pains.....do you want to be put on a waiting list?...or do you just want to see a doctor right away?
