America is Dead

point is...Its completely fine and noone should make such a big deal about it but at this point in time, its caused such an up stirring that its much better to just give up the idea. Its just going to cause more problems.

this

Its america he can burn whatever the fuck he wants. The problem is the fact i have been hearing about this for like a week now. Nobody gives a shit that you burnt a fucking book. high school kids roll joints with the bible everyday. Not a big deal

yes im sorry i was pointing more towards the racism in my point by saying you shouldn't disgrace someone's beliefs, i should have been more detailed on that

America kicks ass. We've gotten our asses kicked, kicked our own ass, and kicked some asses. But we are still nice guys. Regardless there is bound to be some racism when you live in the most diverse country in the world.

America is not dead, it is well and alive. I don't understand why you would have a problem with America when it is such a wonderful place. Take a tour of the states, you will enjoy yourself.

People burn American flags and the bible we're all familiar with every day..in this very fucking country.

Who the fuck cares if some radical redneck wants to burn their bedtime stories?

Why can the muslims in Iraq/Afghanistan burn the American flag and anything associated with America, but we can't burn a q'uran or however it's spelled. Fucking hypocrites

yeah i thought about that to when i was at work today, and i guess we able to shrug it off and be the bigger man sometimes, and also because were such a diverse country that the quran bible is practiced here by some as well as any religion people want to believe. but over there they revolve their world with religion and you fuck with there religion they wont be happy so they burn our religion and our flag in attempt to my guess make us feel hurt and show there hate for us.

exactly, i have no respect for people who are that weak. to take something so small and make such a big deal about it that its threatening to peoples safety is so pathetic.

to be honest, if someone in the name of religion killed people i knew and loved, i'd be kinda pissed if they decided to put a place of worship for that religion near where all that shit went down.

In the same way that the ruhtard from Florida burning the Qur'an does not represent the views of all Christians, al-Qaeda terrorists do not represent the views of all Muslims.

Dude. Come on. Just because for most people in our generation (people who are in high school/ college at this point) who live in America don't put a lot of weight in religion doesn't mean that other people don't. It's important to understand that the Q'uran, to a lot of people, isn't just a bunch of "bedtime stories". It's serious business, and to call it trivial is being extremely disrespectful and ignorant, and that kind of attitude is what leads to something like the burning of Q'urans.

I agree with you in the broad sense that religion shouldn't control people, but I also understand why people would get so furious about this.

i know its very disrespectful, but it doesnt harm anyone, at all, not one bit. i hate people who burn American flags, it angers me and i find it extremely disrespectful, but if i saw someone burning a flag the most i would do is yell at them, i would never go as far as to do anything physical, even threaten to do anything physical. i understand that they find it disrespectful, and thats fine, because it is. but to take it as far as they do is just pathetic and weak.

I liken the Islamic theocracies to colonial America 300 years ago--especially Puritan Massachusetts. Both of the states are/were theocracies, guided by religion. If you committed any of a list of religious crimes in Massachusetts, such as heresy, you would be burned at the stake, taken to the stocks, or jailed. Likewise, religious crimes are often subjected to brutal punishments. So we could argue that the Middle East's Islamic communities are comparable to Puritan Massachusetss 300 years ago. We committed many similar crimes here.

Your ignorance is a prime example of the exceptionalism in America that is causing so many problems. I'm sorry, but your personal opinion of other religions and cultures should not be a prerequisite for cultural and religious tolerance. You don't have to agree with the faith. You don't have to agree with any faith. But if you believe in and agree with the First Amendment, then you should be respectful and tolerant of other people's beliefs. Period.

Im thinkin its the other way around, we do not have to be respectful and tolerant of other peoples belief's. we have every right to speak out against something we dont like. just because the first amendment gives people the right to follow any faith, doesnt take away our right to be against it.

"Religion is the opiate of the masses" Karl Marxthe man was a genius (not saying i support communism in anyway). he had some great observations and this is one of them. just leave religion out of everything but religion.

Agreed.

The Amendment that gives them the right to build the Mosque and practice their religion gives me the right to bitch about the idiot portions of their religion. Which, for some reason, the only vocal portion of their religion are the nutters.

since when does some nut wanting to burn the koran represent america. if you watch the news the vast majority of america think hes an idiot.

but what rocks about this country is that pl have the right to be for or against any religion they so desire. hell this dude can burn the torah, koran, bible, and any other holy book he wants because it is and always has been his right. id rather have that than not be allowed to express my opinions, no matter how crazy they be.

as voltaire said "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

Marx was racist as fuck and he has done nothing to expand our knowledge of the natural world. I am sick of people claiming his work is genius. People like Mendel, Karl Gilbert, and Katherine Esau are geniuses, real contributors to society and science.

Religious distress is at the same time the expression of real

distress and the protest against real distress. Religion is the sigh of

the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is

the spirit of a spiritless situation. It is the opium of the people.

The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is

required for their real happiness. The demand to give up the illusion

about its condition is the demand to give up a condition which needs

illusions. Criticism has plucked the imaginary flowers on the chain not in order that man shall continue to bear that chain without fantasy or consolation, but so that he shall throw off the chain and pluck the living flower
