Why is it every time a "rocker" says that today's music just isn't real music and older bands are just so much better they name off current artists that no real music lover honestly thinks are that great?

I agree, Soulja Boy and Lady Gaga are garbage. And I'm not saying Zeppelin isn't amazing, but I believe there are lots of amazing artists from my generation. Slightly Stoopid or State Radio for example. You can't pin down good music to one era.

for sure, there is def some good "new" music out there i.e Kings of Leon, Fleet Foxes etc...

not directed at the original poster (thanks for the vid), but i agree. there's plenty of good music happening right now. Black Keys rock out...Bonnie Prince Billy is as awesome of indie/folk as you could hope to get, John Darnielle/Mountain Goats is one of the best storytellers I've ever heard.

granted, I listen to mostly old music...motown, stax, blue note, old blues stuff, hendrix, jeff beck, etc...but there's plenty of good music nowadays as well, whenever people bemoan the lack of good music they point to britney spears and soulja boy, and that's just not valid!
