Amateur Video Section?

Hey guys I'm not sure how many amateurs are on this site ( and by amateur I mean beginner to any park tricks, can maybe do a rail, 360, not much complicated stuff), but if there are enough that still want to make their videos and post them I suggest a category for videos for amateurs like this.

May sound dumb to some of you who are great at skiing and dont see the reason but I think it would be helpful.

If there is already a section like this just let me know and ill take this down.

Any thoughts?

I mean anyone can post to our video galleries, and if you get enough upvotes you get featured on the homepage.

You looking for something different from that?

Yes something different. I'm guessing that about 85% of the people that watch the videos that I or other amateurs post are going to be great skiiers that expect to see better videos than that, and therefore its kind of wasting their time and lowering the overall quality of videos at newschoolers. But if there was a section which was made for those people who aren't at the higher level of most of the skiiers on here then the people who went to that section would know what to expect. This would also encourage beginners to try to get footage and get more into the sport imo.

Anyways it might be a stupid idea if there aren't many beginners who feel the same way as I.

I'm sure tonnes of people feel that way!

Right now basically viewing in "Latest" is the way to see everything, including all the lower level stuff. Viewing in "Top Rated" is where the better stuff makes it.

I can get your drift though - not a bad idea and I'll have a think on it.

Use the current system for a bit. We're actually just about to jump into a pretty major update of the video system, so your feedback would be helpful. Can definitely look at how your experience is, because I think something where someone does their first 3 and is looking for tips could be tight.

Something like a "non-industry top rated" could be cool

One risk of posting as a newb is getting downvoted to oblivion, when so much good stuff is always getting posted, i could see the desire for such section, but personally to many different little catagories just makes the site messy

Yeah I mean I get that... but its the same anywhere you post. When you're brand new its hard to get up there. Same as if you're trying to get exposure as a skier/filmer - unless you are 'the one' who hits it on their first post... then you're going to get passed over. Try, try again!

I also think too many categories get confusing. We're going to do some revamping on the categories anyway, and something that helps categorize videos better is necessary. Not sure if a total amateur category would be a good thing though.

Im an amateur but that would be a great way for people like us to get more views and votes on our videos. I think thats a dope idea.
