Am i the only one?

nobody you know has ever HEARD of Tool? Do you live in a cave?

I love Tool and APC yet I don't like any other bands that are heavy. It's weird, but they're so damn progressive and awesome that I love it.
 
i go to a prep school and the only people that have even heard of them are like 4 of my friends.....other than that nobody has even heard of them

3 days grace is similar kinda but way better and ima seein them on sunday :) woohoo lol
 
ahahaha 3 days grace is better? You gota be fuckin joking. I'm never one to judge on your choice of bands but to say that 3 days grace is BETTER than Tool is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Holy fucking shit I can't believe it. You may like them more, that's fine and completely acceptable, but fuck man, you gota be kidding me.
 
you like them better; I'm OK with that. But look at it from a musicianship stand point; who can play the music that 3 days grace plays? Any decent musician. Who can play the stuff Tool does (or come up with it to begin with)? Not just decent musicians, but very good ones.
 
yes you are the only one. Its dark, depressive and generic, not so much generic, but it bridges a boarder between popularized main stream heavy rock like 3 days grace(which may be why that one guy compaired them to them), and the realy under roots of the music. I find them to be more on the popularized overused overrated side though.  Its just my opinion. 
 
they arent depressing but yea three days grace is pretty mainstream lol. now i feel like a poser. but marilyn mansons better than both of them :)
 
You're not the only one.

Tool is pretty kick ass in my book, I've been listening to them for many a years now. I like the whole Aenima album cause its hard metal yet kinda electronic, and the opiate album is great metal.
 
Why are Canadians always so quick to point out fellow famous Canadians? I don't get it. Is it some vicarious Canadian living, or is it systemic of the perpetually defensive Canadian mind set?

I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm simply curious because no one goes..."HE'S AMERICAN!".
 
tool is the fucking shit. I have seen them live along with a perfect circle and maynard james keenan puts on one hell of a show. fucking amazing voice and can belt it out with the best of them

 
I've heard of them, but I havent actually listened to anything by them. But judging by their genre I wouldnt like em anyways.
 
i respectfully disagree with your opinion. some of tools songs may sound dark, but that is where the "depressive" feeling ends.

'stinkfist' can be interpreted in many ways, one of them being about sex. if you find sex dark and depressive, and dont listen to wierd techno while wearing black leather assless chaps, then you are the wierd one.

another one: 'lateralus' is about spiritual enlightenment. just ask enigma88. (im surprised he hasnt replied to this thread yet)

the band is also known for writing songs that joke about things so if it really seems that dark and depressive, keep in mind that it could be a satire.

theres more google "tool faq". its long but worth the read for a tool fan or for someone who simply wants to read and has the time.
