Am i high, or...

mountain there are so many young kids rocking no poles cause they think its the cool thing to do but what they are really doing is just making it look bad. no poles is fun cause it really helps you practice controlling your arms in the air and on rails....thats my to bits.

sorry for the double post but im on my cousins laptop and the keyboard blows dick

I don't like skiing without poles. See how i use poles as i turn (pole planing for shitty newbs) i am always useing my poles. I also think you look like a mad gaper without poles.

i think i will say some things as well,

first, word to all teh real peoples that dont talk about how sick they are,

people that ski without poles and wear crazy unique shit are real. they make the sport interesting,.

but people that do that, and then take pictures adn post threads taht say look at me, no poles and a airblaster just for attention are fucking whack, im pretty sure im talking abotu whoever was wearing taht white suit with 4frnts. fuckem

also,

schwags is the person that started the real no poles trend...

and is where i personally draw my skiing influence from

oxycodone is better than weed could ever be

washington is fucking dope

skiers from snoqualmie have better style than anyone.

fuckyou for reading this

I wish everyone on this site had the ability to post intellegent responses like this, even when they are probably super fuming mad...good job.

poles are useless in park skiing but skiers look wack without them. heres what i did... i cut my fucking poles in half. i use tiny ass poles 4 real. they dont interfere with my skiing but they do dangle and look ill.

I will disagree with you on one thing....I taught little kids how to ski for two seasons and the easiest way to learn is without poles....they are NOT necessary when learning and only necessary for balance. If you know how to properly pole plant you will find that poles are necessary in skiing correctly and efficiently regardless of what kind of skiing you are doing. This is due to the fact that when you pole plant you are initiating a new turn and shifting your body weight from one foot to the other.....do some research, champ.

when i was little I would always spill the paint, so my mom got me watter collors... and when I spilt the cup of watter, she gave me skis and threw me out the door.

i have done the research, ass.

maybe you should read all the posts so you can respond in a way thats up to date with the 'conversation' so you don't make yourself look like, well, an ass.

i know how to ski. come up to montana and lets have a ski off.

i agree with everything you said. And^^^ how many times have you seen kids 10 and under in the lift line without poles? A LOT. they usually learn to ski without poles. i learned how to ski with a harness tied to my back when i was two. I used no poles until i was about eight or nine. used poles a lot after that... but not much anymore.

yo homie props on everything but the no poles i agree it is fun but shit just looks soo much more complete with poles

and too answer your question yes you are and better be high because that is the way to be

to all athority who give shit to our younger generation.... we drink we smoke so get used to it mutha fucka

uhm, do you want companies to start sponsoring racers and freeriders who also can ski park? i think everyone should think more of style and not how much you spin, but i couldnt care less if the person gets from A to B or how fast he does it as long as he can get from the lift to the park

Well, obviously you havent done the research. I realize its your opinion, but regardless of that fact you sir are wrong.....I thought stoners were nicer.

True statement, but most kids who do ski the park all day suck at linking turns on the steeps, the great skiers can do it all. With Poles.

well said about the part on concentrating on yourself other then other people i think people would be alot better if they payed more attention to themselves!

hey, no fear isn't bad. just cus u have no fear doesn't mean that ur not in control. and no fear means that ur not holding back, and holding back is bad.

try hitting urban without poles. try hitting the bc without poles. it is necessary to have poles. its like saying that you dont need your back binding. why not just telemark?

ok for urban. ok for BC. and comparing it to telemarking is just wrong. thats like saying skatboarding is just like riding a scooter with no handle, when its two completly different things. for example, take the following statement:

'you can only skateboard with pants on'

wrong. you can skateboard in shorts, boxers, nothing. it doesnt matter, they are completly unrelated. its just that everyone is used to seeing people skateboard in pants so its odd when you dont.

skiing is the same way. you dont need poles to ski, they are completly unrelated. its just people are used to seeing others ski with poles so when they dont, its wierd.

ok for urban? you cant do POLE WHIPS, you cant get the extra power to skate in when theres no drop in. and as for bc you use your damn poles to actually ski, that is unless you just hit jumps because your a park monkey in the bc and dont ski lines. and poles are also a great tool for hiking in the bc

I don't think poles are necessary to ski, especially if you're not concerned about having "proper" form. That said, poles make skiing a lot easier and make a lot of sense in terms of getting your body in a position that makes turning easier. And don't argue with the ski instructor, he's right (in terms of commonly accepted "proper" technique).

1.)no they dont, he can say whatever the hell he wants. i'm nearly positive a single comment from someone on here wont take away from the sport. he does mind pole-less skiing and you dont. everyone has their own opinions so stop

2.) and this is a terrible point by you. obviously progression is change, but skiing poleless isnt fucking progression, it's just kids that are trying too hard to be different

anyone ride at alta that wants to put in two cents for mike nugent? apparently he doesn't know that you can't ride big mountain without poles - cause he SHREDS without them.

this is an intersting comment. so many people talk about how kids who only ride park all the time suck at linking lines. thats the most retarded thing ive ever heard. maybe dropping a 60 degree face with 40 foot cliffs and chutes 6 inches wider than your shoulders would be a problem.. but you relaly can not tell me that an avid park skier couldnt tear a normal mt apart because it doesnt even make sense. in the park, you encounter all the same obstacles that youd encounter out of the park, except bigger and with more consequences. anyone who has gone mach 10 into a 60 foot booter that has a slushed/iced/whooped out run would probably be able to "link a turn on the steeps" like someone else said, skiing is all about being in control. people who are good at park, know how to control themselves because they cant risk to mess up. eating it off of a 50-60 footer can end up really costly.

i agree with you bra...the only part of what you said that i dont like is the no poles idea. no poles makes any skier, not matter how skilled, resemble snowbladers which is mostly gay for not having poles. all the other stuff, like that ^ is well said though
