dude, i no this is real harsh, but it is so irresponsible to be doing 140 as a 17 year old kid. Fuck, i don't wanna die cus someone was a little overheated. Im not trying to be an asshole, but have some fucking responsibility. Jesus thats just dumb
 
get a lawyer and:

see if the cop's radar had been zeroed in that morning

if there was lots of other traffic you could argue that he was radar-ing someone else

etc.
 
you have to go to court? thats harsh. in canada you just pay your crilla and go. i dont know if its the same where you are, but here if you pay your ticket within like thirty days or something you get to only pay half of it. also, i've gotten like three speeding tickets this year and i think my insurance went up like 2 dollars a year or something. good deal

my brother got clocked at 163 in a 70 (in Illinois) and got reckless driving, felony speeding, drag racing, and some endangerment of youth bullshit cause there was a family on the side of the road changing their mini van tire. so chances are youre fucked. unless the cop was cool, then you might be less fucked but still fucked
 
Agree, if your ticket doesn't specifically say "reckless driving" on it you probably won't get anything too extreme like points against you. That being said it was 32mph over so I wouldn't expect it to be cheap. What I'm aware of from my ticket, if you do the traffic school your insurance won't go up. That's what the lady at the police station said, don't quote me on it. Basically, you'll get your official ticket in the mail, pay the ticket fine which won't be brilliantly cheap (I think there's the option to work out a payment plan with bigger fines from what an ex had to do), sign up for traffic school.

I got a 60 in a 45 and it wasn't bad, ticket and traffic school, no court. I was pretty miffed and sarcastically said "because it's a turbo" when he asked me why I was speeding so I didn't get out of a ticket.

Way better than it could've been, I hit 110 every freeway drive the first couple weeks I had my new car.

PS: The traffic school I did was GoldRushTrafficSchool but double check with your local station to make sure it's compliant. Good luck!
 
Yeah I doubt that you got up to 140. Its not impossible but...I have a 04 Forester xt with the vf39 and the neccesary upgrades. When it was a stock the ECU topped it out at like 120 ish. Thats a four cylinder turbo. With all the upgrades It gets to 100 fast, but after that it would need a runway to get up to 150. Fastest ive gotten was 125.
