Am I an alcoholic if I drink cheap whiskey from a flask on the chairlift?

Title says it all. I probably kill a flask or two over 8 hours of cheap whiskey (Seagrams, Canadian Club, etc). I new to park and I find it helps give me the gonads to huck shit, grind rails and fall down, etc and get back up and keep trying.

Am I an alcoholic or am I just devoted to progressing at the expense of my body and use the booze to fuel progression?

I'm like 65% serious with this thread.

if you can't ski without it, yes.

i smoked a j one day and i put me in an awesome mood to start hucking my meat. most people say they get really timid with their skiing when they're high so i was happy

assuming your flask is the pretty standard 8oz, that's a pretty damn good amount of whiskey all to yourself just for a day of skiing. Approx 1.5-2 shots/hour. Basically you're saying you need to ski buzzed...my vote is you're approaching alcoholism. Congrats.

If you like skiing buzzed/drunk your not am alcoholic.... I think your only an alcoholic when you can't ski without alcohol

Like the hip flasks you buy at the store? or like a 5-8oz metal flask? If the former, that amount of alcohol not impairing you from skiing is shocking. If the latter, that's not too bad but either way you're probably an alcoholic.

I'll post a pic of the flask size later. I filled it up twice today and a 750ml bottle is about 6/10 full still.

I don't *NEED* it to ski, I just find it allows me to not give a fuck. Plus, you know what they say, when you are drunk you don't flinch on impact so you are less likely to injure yourself.

I drink in the name of science!

is that a 1969 patent? whattt, i knew there was a ski pole flask, but i didnt think the idea was that old

I think you can cure your alcoholism by spending 5 to 10 dollars more per bottle. At that point you have entered connoisseur status, and are safe.

This. If you can't even ski groomers or powder with drinking then you have a problem, but the occasional buzz when learning new tricks in the park I think is okay

I feel like drinking Laphroaig 10-cask on the slopes would be a waste. I don't drink when I ski groomers with friends, just when I ski park by myself.

Maybe ill step it up to Jack but anything like Jamison plus just seems wasteful.

ahhh so its like a 5oz flask. That's not too bad you're still an alcoholic unless you're in college lol

5oz flask? im pretty sure 1 oz is equal to 1 shot. So you had like 10 shots, i mean if your in college and depending on your weight, thats not too much

Do you have withdrawal symptoms when you're not drinking? If the answer is 'no', then you're not an alcoholic.

When you stop going skiing altogether because you sold all your shit for booze money and youre too drunk to get out of bed then its probly intervention time.

I skied high for the first time this year after taking months off from smoking. I threw down the best rail run of my life stomping two new tricks I had never even tried before. I got to the bottom of the hill and just kinda stood there trying to figure out what just happened.

Do you even need to ask this question? An Alcoholic is someone who drinks compulsively, uncontrollably, and in situations that are not approach too. It's perfectly acceptable to kill a flask while you're skiing. It would only be a problem if you became totally shitfaced and couldn't control your actions. From what I'm hearing, you're not even close to becoming an alcoholic. Don't worry about it! It's always fun to go skiing buzzed!

this is what happens to me when i ski rails totes baked, i get way worse at tech jump tricks but become rail master, and somehow everything works

My pops used to brown bag schnapps when we shredded in Michigan. I personally don't see anything wrong with having a little personal flask whilst skiing. It's a big part of ski culture I think. Drinking and skiing go hand in hand (most of the time)
