pow days, west line.

clear winter days, chair 1 area. picnic down past lo-lo's to brown shorts, to 6 again. dropping kitchen of course. and must sneak a bear claw run in.

sunny spring days, mix it up.

powder spring days, anywhere on the way to eagles.
 
Alyeska happens to be the shit so its fun to ski anywhere! I love chilkoot even though its not always worth the hike, west line in the pow is the definition of heaven, and if you find new tracks in explosives, or bramuda triangle you can have quite the adventure!
 
worrrrrrd my man. i, however, have been there multiple times. alyeska is fun when theres pow, but outside of that, its really quite plain and mellow. growing up with eaglecrest and then visiting alyeska, there is a huge contrast between the two, mainly in that alyeska majorly lacks real terrain.. pillows, cliffs, gulleys, chutes, and especially trees... eaglecrest is lightyears better than alyeska in the real mountain sense. plus, more crowds there, more kooks and scenes, way higher prices (over a G for a pass? are you kidding?).. lets just say the pass price doesnt reflect what you actually get, at all. but if i had to live there, id gladly pay it, just cause i love the snow regardless.

that being said.. its still enjoyable for sure. and on a pow day, it would be epic, because theres more wide open mellow terrain, whereas eaglecrest has a million features everywhere, and sometimes thats all i want to do. big wide open smooth turns forever.

anyway, to answer the actual question, my favorite spot at alyeska? hard to say. when theres pow, then under the tram in general i guess. when theres no pow, then we usually do that run with the very few sidehits alyeska has to offer. theres that one roughly under the mightymight chair or whatever it is, that scoops to the right.. everyone does it. thats probably my favorite thing about alyeska.. which is unfortunate.
 
oh, right. and i realize a lot of the alyeska locals wont like that, but thats kinda how it is. dont take it personally. its also weird, ive come across very very few diehard alyeska locals who have even been to eaglecrest. most people dont even know it exists. definitely the best terrain from a chairlift in alaska, and definitely tops in the world, no joke. well.... unless youre a park dood. then its a different story.
 
probably, but imagine if the "good shit" was right there, everywhere you rode, right off the chair in every direction. thats eaglecrest. and then the hiking/out of bounds stuff is even better. so.........

anyway.. alyeska shredders, dont get the idea that im trying to bash alyeska. im only comparing, really.. and lets be honest, theyre pretty different in terms of the terrain. that being said, its all wintery fun. fun is key. if youre having fun, then.... youre doing something right.
 
yes, but lets still make it clear that they are very different places. certain people are going to like one or the other a lot more.

its like the styles of ak livin compared to the bear cubs.

but in the end... hey, youre in alaska! so its all good. except when we get super wet dumps and then it clears up and freezes. worst ever.
 
i usually have mine with peru, or at least french guiana. never been too into the chile sauce.

the cookies at the little restaurant there were good. er.. bakery. or whatever.

dont buy cherry pepsi from the tesoro, though. someone will put a mentos in it while youre driving down turnagain in your rented jeep patriot (terrible vehicle, by the way... nothing beats an OG cherokee), and you wont be able to get the window open in time.

again, i sincerely mean no hate on alyeska, but thats my whole point... you have to know specific spots scattered around the mountain, and at eaglecrest and in juneau, you just go up there and its in every single spot you look.

look at it like this. you go to alyeska, you kinda have to know specifically where to go to find the good typical alaska terrain, which i described before. and then in juneau, you would have to know specifically where to go to AVOID that kind of terrain. just trying to paint the picture.

i really dont know how to get into this subject without making it seem like im bashing alyeska. theyre just observations, not hate. gonna have to trust me on that one.
 
you're a clown man, people are just naming off their favorite runs. just because shmeaglecrest doesn't have run names doesn't mean you need to get your panties in a bunch.
 
that assumes i was bothered or upset, and i was not. getting upset about something like this would be a waste of time for everyone.

exactly. thats part of why im going to stop, but not the main reason. it doesnt matter how many times i say im not "hating" on it (and its true, im not), people will never stop choosing to look at it that way.
 
because you choose to see it that way... which is understandable and normal. but is it hate? if one place has certain different attributes in comparison to another, is stating those things equal to "hate?" no, and thats all im saying.

headwall, max's face...new years, christmas, west line, north face in general, Monies, Lo-Lo's anywhere with snow to slide on...shit.and eaglecrest lover dude...we all find our home mtn glorious...untill we go to canada and ski Revelstoke for a week. Then hit up Kicking Horse....yeah, they beat Eaglecrest and Alyeska terrain wise.

Oh I know! It is amazing, I'd love to spend a season there. Some may put it in the top 5 places to ski one day, because I would recommend it to everyone.I liked the entire scene at Revelstoke a little more though.

all mountain with alright snow just hitting little jumps starting on silver tip

and chillen on the park on 7

the rails there are pretty dope
