yo i'm looking for some help. I built a 3m rail during the summer, its sweet, i got it welded on top of a crowd control barrier. Anyway my problem i went to hit it only to find my skis dont slide on it and i can only guess its because its made of aluminuim. It didnt seem like a problem when i made it and its super strong. Can anyone think of anything i can put over it so it slides and my edges dont dig in? Cheers

some crazy people are filing their edges to slide rails. if you dont mind the inability to carve, you could try that.

Here's the thing, that metal is very light which is nice, but regular grade aluminum isn't tough enough to shrug off the impact of you and your edges. You eitehr need a steel top sheet (don't worry if it rusts) OR you can mount some lexan or other hard PVC to the top with counter sunk screws.
