Alternative to Photoshop?

I am currently away from home for the season and so am using a different computer. Is there a program that is available in the standard package for windows that I can use to reduce the file size of my photos so I can post them up on here? (i.e. they can only be 100k max for here...)

gimp for free, macromedia firewoks if your a student or teacher. fireworks was free for me but it's harder than photoshop.

Windows Powertoys has a image resizer.

Install that and then all you have to do is right click an image and go to 'resize'.

photoshop really has no alternative.

but you are not exactly using it to its potential if you are just resizing pictures. go to download.com and look up "photo resize" programs or something. there is a bunch that should work.

just go on www.download.com and search for a photo compressor. Much easier then using fireworks or photoshop.

gimp works pretty well...

Photofiltre is another free program that is a free 1.5mb download. It works very well for basic photo editing http://www.snapfiles.com/get/photofiltre.html

there is corel graphic suite similar toolbar and easy to use if you know photoshop

its also almost as expensive, occasionally more.

IF you are actually going to be spending money, get the whole adobe suite (photoshop, illustrator, forgot the rest). its only a couple hundred bucks with student discount (it can't be that hard to find a student if you are not). price for the average consumer is like $1200 or something rediculous if i remember right. been awhile since i got all that.

i still say www.download.com + photoresizer is the most cost effective and simplest route for you.
