Alternative sports

How many of you respect rollerblading, or scootering for that matter. well if you dont you should, while we participate in a sport where if we are good we can possibly make a career, even though the odds are slim... people often hate on these alternative sports, but at the same time, these people are pursing their passion regardless of the rewards... what make you a more real person. discuss NS

I skateboard so my opinions are scooterers are all 5 year olds who snake you constantly. They are the gapers of the skatepark . Bladings fine but I font think it has much style fine

you have not been to my skatepark. it is literary SWARMING with scooter kids. they go round in lines and snake you. when your coming up to a rail or block or wotever they always come right across oblivious to the fact that someone wants to actaully use a feature. and the mini ramps are the worst. when you skate it they seem to think its ok to put there front wheel over the coping. no, it isnt, then i cant grind cause they're in the way. then when they drop in the just go of the other side and dont even stay on their scooter.

Totally and 100% with you on that, honestly, scooters can not be taken seriously. To couple of the posts above, the bloody kids on scooters do the same things here in Oz so I think its a global plague.

I am not hating on scooter riders but I think it just lacks any kinds of sex appeal. Im blading myself to stay tuned for the rails in between seasons so my opinion can be biased.

Scooter is not a sport. it's skateboarding for people who cant ollie, and are to afraid of not having brakes, and bmx for kids who cant get a bike off the ground. That said, skateboarding, skiing, and snowboarding aren't really sports in the traditional sense either... rollerblading can be cool, if you're one of the 10 people who can actually do things, but that leaves 90 people who cant

i respect all of it, scootering is mad fun and pretty easy, i can like tail whp, 360 exct, but its all for fun

blading is sick! takes to much skill and its also super fun

Longboarding is super chill sport, super fun to just carve around on mellow hills. Also if you have a longboard try and get inside a school gym with it, slides are so fun and easy on the super smooth floor.

body boading. get droped in on from surfers all the time.

if you are a skater bmxers are the worst. i get snaked by bikers way more than scooters at most skateparks but the one i go to the most they dont allow bikers, bladers or scooters so its just skaters. i want to try blading this summer though, just need to get my hands on a pair

Competitive sailing is alternative a guess you could say. Im one of the best in the county for my age. /claim

YES. Gyms are super fun on longboards. also if you get inside a dry ice rink it is also super awesome.
Surfing is also super fun

i competed in the Franzia olympics once. I am pretty sure I shared 1st place with 10 other people though. It is the toughest sport on the earth the day after you compete

That does sound rough. I can't say i ever competed on an olympic level, but I have had some rough times with Franzia.

Yeah for sure, I tried it in Costa Rica, and so far it is the only sport I have had as much doing as I do skiing powder.

not saying that it's stylish, but what this kid is doing is ubergnarly!

its ridiculous how good that kid is on a scooter. But its impossible to take seriously because theres nothing cool looking about a scooter. its a toy made for 10 year olds.

It's not a toy for ten year olds when you're that passionate and good at it, I don't see how it's even remotely possible to NOT take it seriously, just look at all the effort he's put into it, and after all, it's just another way to have fun, no different than skiing or biking or skating, not that I scooter, I just think it's rediculous to call sootering "uncool" after seeing that.

Longboarding is what keeps me stoked for the summer. I am getting sliding gloves along with the loaded tan tien and durian freeride wheels so that I can slide all summer long. I have a huge crew of guys from my hometown that get together and ride, its pretty sweet.

yeh its good but compared to skiing i mean as skiing has similar rail tricks, but infinetly better air tricks and those leg sticks count for 7/10 of you steeze, 3/10 is poles.

Made me think of this thread...
People do some crazy shit on unicycles and snowblades too... But just cos some people can do amazing stunts, doesnt make the sports look any less like circus acts/childrens toys to me..
