Alta?

hhaha yeah. damn i could easily write it for ns homies but i dont really know what the hell a family would want to hear.
if i were writting to you i would just say good powder, natural features everywhere and tons of duct tape hippies to piss off. boom bang done.
a family though?

ahhh ur kids can go get good with instructors while you can ride challenging terrain and impress all the chads back home?

haha. y do u have to even right a report and y would u choose something like that to families. just right how to ski

I would not call Alta a "family" resort. There are very few groomers and on days after storms it is tracked crud that is difficult for "families" to ride. (assuming 2.3 kids, wife, father.)

My dad came out to visit me last year and I took him down some little bowl, first turn = torn acl. Not family friendly but fucking fun to ski on pow days with your friends.

chuck in stuff like whether they have a childcare centre and stuff?? maybe you could write about any kids learn to ski programmes they have? my mountain has a kids mascot...

Say you need a big 4 wheel drive car to get the family to alta. Most days you cant get up the canyon with 2-wheel drive. Also you should bring a shovel to get your kids out of the snow when they fall on deep days. The family needs to bring a lunch because it's so expensive at the mountain. In response to the Duct tape hippies comment. Duct tape is essential to the ski bum. If you ski hard in the trees, dropping cliffs, your gear is bound to rip. They do have duct tape in almost every color now, so you can make it look pretty cool.

The ignorance in this thread is blowing my mind.

just look at their site... or www.skiutah.com

and use stats...

Worlds greatest snow, over 500 inches a year, ski school information, prices, lodge, food, lodging, and how it's kid friendly.

Anyone who says Alta is full of Mormons has never been to Alta. It's the Marijuana capital of the west. Lots of beer, Shit load of Snow (700+) and way chill people. If you want a family resort go to keystone.

It really depends on the family. If it's a family of gapers who have never skied, then yeah, you'd be better off at Breck or Deer Valley. But if it's a family of lifelong skiers (exactly the same group Alta is marketed towards), then Alta is a great choice.

I guess a couple of the pros for this group would be great instruction, you would be spending time with your family (not separated), great snow and terrain, etc.

However, if you're looking at a family who has never skied before, the few pros would include good instruction and reliable snow. The cons would include very few activities, not very much beginner terrain, etc., etc.

ya utahs full of mormons ESPECIALLY ALTA. totally don't come here it'd just be a waste of your time anyways altas just a poophole ski mountain anyways i hear they only get like 100 inches a year! not worth it just stay away!

yes listen to this kid.
All the mormons will just try to get you to join the church and stuff, and they are like way weird you know. Their different from other humans. Powder a total drag also. All you do is hit rocks all day due to lack of snow coverage. So just don't ever think about coming here. PLEASE!

thats funny same because we spent 4 days at baker, and we were looking for shrubs, everyone we asked looked at us like bad people for lighting shrubs. well not really but they just said they didnt know. oh well.

plus since the apres ski activitiy at baker is whipping "brodies" in the back of the parking lot leads me to believe they werent high on shrubs and doing donuts. but if i make another trip out ill be in touch with you.

you gotta find your herbs in bellingham really. the po's have been hounding baker the last couple years, especially on the weekend looking specifically for people lighting up/drinking/doin' stupid shit in the parking lot. lame, i know.

my first year it was a free for all of boozin', smokin', and all around debauchery. every year since its gotten a little more tight, and last year was insane how many cops there were up at the hill. during the banked slalom last year there were literally a dozen cops cruisin'.

so word to the wise should any of you go to baker this season: dont ask for herbs on the mountain, unless you're on the lift with someone who obviously smokes or is smoking, get your herbs in town. pre roll if you can, and DONT DO ANYTHING ILLEGAL IN THE PARKING LOT. go ride some pow, find some trees, post up and chill.

just dont be an idiot and you'll be fine.

UTAH SUCKS go to COLORADO where the snow is super deep and always light!!! best parks best pow hands down stay out of MORMONVILL its LAME

haha youve obviously never been to NorCal. specifically humboldt, mendicino and trinity counties. or the bay area for that matter. marijuana is californias #1 cash crop and it is almost all grown in norcal
