Alta to build trial Park

this week Atla is leaving the past and joinging the present. They are building a trial park to see if it goes over well. it won't be whistler or park city due to insurance at first, but if it goes over well then it could be a permanent deal. if you are in town and hit alta up let them know it is a good idea, or drop them an email.

ehhh. I was there for a week over Christmas vacation, and already made reservations for next christmas, and it's the last place in the world that would need a park. Seriously. I spent an entire week there and never once thought about rails or tables... they have enough natural terrain (drops, etc) to satisfy anybody.

Sweet is it going up this week? Ive been wanting to hit a little park this year but I have been going to nightskiing at brighton 12.50$ and that resort builds pussy ass hits and tons of rails (which I suck at)

yeah alta is so sick, they would pretty much only need a park for really late in the season and really early in the season, locals also might wanna hit it up on off days, but i when i went there over christmas break it was amazing without a park, also the 4 feet of fresh snow helped

if alta builds a park it'll most likely end up being modeled after the bird's park, which sucks left nut. where in the hell are they going to locate this park anyway? off of albion? goodluck.

 
123ski is right in that a park makes a place that 'can't be better', better!

however, I would rather see snowbird expand its advanced park. I like the park there, but I think the advanced park needs a pipe (if there is one in the advanced park I didn't see it). I was there a few weeks ago and skied the park on big emma. that pipe was the worst one I've ever skied.

I say improve snowbird's advanced park, leave alta as a natural terrain garden that is skiing only. I would hate alta's park cause there would be no boarders. I mean lets face it, in the snowbird park there were some hot girls who all board. Gotta have someone to impress u know.

snowbirds park is gay. and untill they bring the right people in it will always suck. as for alta it is going to be small at first cause of insurance, but the right people are working on it, and trust me I am pusing very hard for some big stuff. I think they just want to see how all the old timers take it.

there arent any rails in the park, it is just 3 rollers with lips on them and has been nuilt for a while but has yet to open, it is currently burried in snow anyways, which mean the skiing isnt in the park

Alta has always had a park, the park being everywhere at alta, rocky point the castle bad news, all the cliff bans and powder runs. alta is a skiers mountain, not a jib monkeys mountain

I think that it would kind of duck if Alta got a really high quality park. It would change Alta. It would make it 'less pure,' or something, I dunno, but it wouldn't really be Alta anymore if it had a high quality park.

Finally! I remeber the big hoopla over outlawing boarders a few years back. I think Alta really needs to get over itself and it's god damn 'pure' thing, skiing is skiing. I just hope those geriatrics up there learn to get out of the way!

 
^ Have you ever skiing Alta? Their 'pure' thing you speak of it what makes the mountain so sick. I really don't know what your talking about with old people all over the place?.....I saw more telemarkers throwing lincoln loops off 40 ft cliffs then I saw old people. Alta is sick, and if they build a decent park, I'll def. be purchasing a season pass there.

saw Alta's trial park. it's so tizite! there's this huge 32 inch kicker next to these sweet as snake-like burms. i can't believe it! i had to pass up skiing real stuff just because that shit was so enticing.

 
that sucks. the best part about alta was the lack of a park and snowboarders. that place is perfect how it is

 
All I can say is that you cant say anything about the 'soul' of Alta unless you have lived here and actually felt it. If you really want a park in utah, you go to park city, but I say screw you to the_friesz who acts like he knows everything about alta when in reality he has no clue. I am not against having a small park or anything, but I really dont see a big park in the plans for Alta, especially based on seeing this 'trial park'. I am not heartbroken.

 
ive tried everything to get a park but nothing works at whitewater B.C soooo it sucks

aside from the whole stupid Alta trial park thing, I heard Alta's planning on eliminating the collins and wildcat chairs and replacing them with an express quad of some sort going from the base to germania with a mid-station thing like mid-gad at the bird. sounds more exciting than a park to me.

 
That 'purity' you speak of is what we in the 'Big' like to call 'altatude' Thank god that vibe stays at Alta. It's a sick resort, but it seems like an experiment to see what happens if you put the industry's largest douches all in one place at the same time. No thanks. I'll take pioneer ridge or wolverine cirque over that shit any day.

^your an idiot! you can't just go and ski wolverine everyday! Not everyone one is equiped to ski that kind of terrain in the bakcountry! a park is good for practice, I know I'm not the only one that would like to practice tricks on a simple table before I throw them at rocky point!
