Alta passholders! Parking question

With reservations now, how's the parking on the weekends? By what time is the lot usually full on a regular Sat/Sun?

I'm considering switching to Alta next season, and wondering if the parking situation would be significantly better than in BCC or not really (in BCC lots are full by ~9.30am, so with traffic it means you have to get your ass to the mouth of the canyon by ~8am, which means taking my ass out of bed even earlier than during the week, which fucking blows)

I heard weekend reservations made the parking situation better at Alta, but wondering how much better, could I fulfill my dream of getting to the resort around ~10.30-11am on a weekend and still find a spot, or nah?

Stop partying and get out of bed earlier

Man I wish.. Haven't gotten a full night of sleep in 8 months, babies are so fucking disrespectful if you ask me.

What kinda skier isn't in the parking lot before they open?

Tbh I don't know that it's even possible to ski if you're not in the parking lot before they open in Utah lmao, so that's what I've been doing my man, but growing up with other shit going on, it's harder than it used to be, and it sure would be nice being able to show up mid-morning and still able to ski.

yeah you can it’s so nice, 11 may be pushing it on bigger powder days

Sweet thanks, yeah pow days are a different beast, I'll still be first in line for these to score as many turns as I can, more wondering about regular weekend days where there's less of an incentive to show up super early.

Parking at Alta with a reservation is stress free tbh. You will get a spot, worst that happens is you have to park at the Albion lot which I had to do maybe once this season. It’s usually not particularly hard to get a res either if you’re on top of securing one when they release them every Sunday. If it’s sold out, keep checking back to the website periodically and often spots open up as people cancel. 100x better than the Brighton lot

I've heard it's actually great coming from friends who ski there regularly. Much better worked-out system honestly. Free reservations could be the move. Speaking of Brighton, with them installing a 6-pack next year, that means they are probably going to enact a reservation system for passholders which will be free but paid for day-ticketers and maybe ikon people, so that would be really nice for us LoCalz.

It’s better. Wildcat lot won’t fill till 11-12 on normal weekends. Big dumps it’s slightly different but just add an hour earlier. I think Alta parking only filled fully like 3-5 times this year. Most my homies roll up around 11 on sat/sun.

I heard from a homie that works at B town, he said they are prob switching to parking res next year. Big has been a mega problem this year.

I also wrote a non flushed out script that will auto grab parking pass reservations when they come available.

It's been beyond an issue at this point with so much snow up there. LCC gets shut down for mitigation which is fine, but everyone just gangbangs BCC because of that and Soli/Btown just don't have the infrastructure setup to handle it. Reservations are most definitely needed if they want to increase uphill capacity, which will also kind of suck.

They also have a lot capacity issue up there. Btown lot is just soooo small relative to what Alta/Bird can hold.

If there's any resort in Utah besides Bird/Alta that needs to get off Ikon, it's them as well. It's ruined the experience for budget-friendly skiers and families looking to get into the sport.

True. Use to be the spot where kids learned to ski. Hell, I learned there. Now its messed to hell and prices are up

**unpopular opinion incoming**

Snowbird is purposefully making their parking situation a nightmare for their pass holders so that the canyon is consistently a nightmare early Saturday/Sunday mornings for the weekend warriors all in an attempt to make the gondola more and more appealing.

Not unpopular. There was talk about some sort of Lobbyists in bed with Snowbird higher-ups that got together to buy some land for the gondola, but take it with a grain of salt. I take a neutral stance on that. Like you don't think Owners of Alta and Snowbird don't want those major bags? All I'm saying. It might happen one way or another knowing how greedy this state is.

Same here. It's sad to see. We need to do more to preserve places like this, dude. The vibes are always great.

I get to Alta every weekend around 11 and am chilling.
