Alt j

This is one of those bands that I have known about for a while, but I never gave them a really good listen. I have just recently started to do this and I like their approach to music. Their songwriting abilities seem to be much higher than the typical acoustic-strumming indie band. Good stuff.

This band are pretty big in the UK, 'An Awesome Wave' is a really solid album which is easy to listen too. They are from a city an hour away from where I live so it would be nice to see them live someday

Known them for quite a while, but I only started liking their music a few weeks ago for some reason. Been listening to An Awesome Wave non-stop recently. It's actually playing in the background as I type this.

Also took me a while to realize that Alt + J = ∆

governor's ball in nyc in june. alt-j along with many other of my favorites are going to be there, I'm stoked

I noticed that recently, tessellate has been used in 3 or 4 edits... awesome song and cool for one edit, but after the 3rd, i started to become concerned that nobody was listening to the rest of the album. love these guys.

I was gonna go seem them here in Amsterdam but the tickets were sold out. I think they were originally sold for 22€ but people were also buying them for like 60€ on the 'black market' (if that's what you wanna call it). Crazy.

They're really good though. Love them.

Picking up their album on Friday.

I love Breezeblocks, and I've heard plenty of good things about the rest of their stuff.

Saw them last wednesday in Toronto with Hundred waters it was sick, so much weed in the crowd and sick dancing

favourite part of the album is interlude 2 haha, really like the acapella, its perhaps one of the most complete albums i've ever listened to, so good to play all the way through it imma listen to it now in fact

I fucking hate alt j. also your suck at being an indie faggot, you chose their most popular song newb.

I knew about this band before they were formed.

Luv me sum musicz where you can't understand one word from the singers mouth....

Please don't go. I love you so I love you so.

I have nothing to add, only that Alt J has blown up on Seattle's radio stations, they probly get ten plays a day, and everyone claims that that loved them a year and a half ago when they were only on KEXP..

This was an amazing idea.

Absolutely love the whole album.

Blood Flood, Taro/Handmade are my favourite, along with Intro.

Recently gifted the album for my lady, and she just loves it.

So everyone, just love it.

I found out about them when Stept used them in the Eighty Six during Cam Riley's part. Listened to some other songs, downloaded their album, and now they're one of my favorite bands.

I love the interludes from An Awesome Wave:

bump but anyone here going to the concert @ bank of america pavillion in boston on friday?

Only middle schoolers in beanies with fake ray-bans like this music. It is so bad. I cant stand it. I would ignore the thread but then the hate would just build up inside me and i would implode. So down vote my post and show me who is boss. But i despise alt. j.

I really enjoy their music, the voice is very different but i would have to say the lyrics don't make much sense at all

It took like 4 or 5 years to make the album and it shows, every song feels overworked, the vocals are muffled by the enormous amount of synthesizers, and the album really just does not come together well at all. They are riding on the coat tails of good british bands like like radio head and passing their sound off as "progressive" when it is really just hyped up teeny bopper music.

I wrote this in another thread like 2 months ago and didnt feel like rewriting it so i just copy and pasted it. I am very resourceful.

That may be true, and I'd say that's more opinion oriented, but what it really comes down to is if it is good music or not. I'd say that it is. It's very unique and was produced very well. To address the vocals being muffled - that was probably intentional to make the vocals seem more of an instrument, which they're not alone there. And I'm not really in the middle school scene so I can't speak for that, but if it is really popular there then well, at least they're finally listening to half decent music. You can't judge the quality of music based on the crowd that listens to it.

Sorry for the lack of sentence structure. I'm on mobile and am real tired.
