Alpine's Park..

So how about we make some better take-offs onto rails and boxes huh?

Everything was pretty sketch the last couple times I went..with shitty take offs or big ollie-ons. I racked myself hard doing that stupid simple flat-box to flat-box set up.

It'd be nice to see some cleaner take-offs. I've been riding Northstar more just because they take better care of their shit, even though I have a pass to Alpine.

What do you guys think?

I thought there park was set up great today (sunday).

Especially happy to see they had two kink rails mellow dfd and mellow flat down.....

I do think the jumps need more landing, they are all way easy to over shoot, but im sure they will get bigger.

On a side note, Northstars superpipe is open....but there jumps are way easy to over shoot too.

there have been a few times i thought the lips were getting sketch at alpine....but at northstar....last year all the rails and boxes were setup so you had to super ollie onto them. and there stuff wasn't any better taken care of.

It would be cool if they put in a real table instead of all stepdowns. I hate stepdowns. Maybe we just need more snow for that huh?

it takes way more snow for a true table.....but i love stepdowns.

Alpines are definately stepDOWNS with a major drop, which im not a fan of.....but easily the best jumps on the north shore right now.

Uh, are we talking about Alpine Meadows?

Everytime I talk to the kids out there they want bigger gaps to the rails. The takeoff to the two flat boxes is the smallest gap to a jib on the hill. I've hit every one of those takeoffs and I've had no trouble. The problem is everyone want's something different. Maybe if you put your purse down the flat boxes won't beat you up. Anyways the jumps on roo are dictated by how steep that run is and amount of snow. The landing's will get longer but I don't think they are much shorter than any point last year. There is now way to build a table right now. Plus most kids I talk to want that height off the deck or I get the "I'm just skimming the deck" complaint. I'm there everyday and see tons of kids killing it with low injuries. So what I'm saying is just ride it and quit your bitching or go to Northstar because that is where probably where you belong.

yeah way to rep alpine . I have no problems with any of the features and i cant wait for the transfer gap.. oh yeah i can, i broke myself off . FUCK whatever just go kill the mini park for 9 hours like the Dcrew did.

relax guys, we have all said some shit on a forum board without thinking. Dude seems like a good guy and alpines park is sick and getting sicker. Lets leave it at that and this next storm ought to give dude all the snow he needs to lengthen those landings out for us.

if you dont like rails go hit the jumps. they kick the shit out of northstars. you cant beat alpines jumps

i like gaps onto rails but i don't like having to pop really hard to get on. maybe i'm just lazy. alpine's park has been doing well considering the conditions this winter has brought. props to the park crew. i'm excited to ski friday

hey nojahojajas no need to get super defensive here, the park is dopetastizzle, i think what homeslice was trying to say is the takeoffs aren't really lippy enough. I think the gaps to all the features are really sick, I especially enjoyed the flat down box on saturday and that thing had some air time to get to it, but it was skurry to spin onto the step down box because the takeoff was like all not lippy so it just felt wierd, that's all, give the lips a little more hotsauce and everyone will be happy campers, the kids are just making suggestions. I can't wait for some more snow so that jump line can get all dialed to perfection. Good stuff, peace.

yeah. thats all i'm saying.

just up the lips a bit.

no complaints about the tables really.

last years 70 footer was beautiful.

i can't wait to get up this weekend and hit that shit up.

Yeah I was a little cranky when I wrote that. I will try to make the lips a little more poppy but I have to cater to both skiers and boarders. The skiers seem to like a little more pop than the boarders but we'll se what we can do for ya. If you have some constructive comments I'm all ears, but when you say they are shitty or not taken care of I take that personaly. Sorry for the sarcasim but saying your gonna get me fired, you need a reality check Billy.

and it's nice to see you guys out there pimping the takeoffs and landings during the day, that definately helps keep things smooth, so thanks for that.

I just want to say the flat-down box is the sickest thing ever. I highly enjoy it, especially because if you try and spin onto it, you won't catch your skis on the front and tomahawk down the box.

awesome.

i'll be up there thurs-sun.

and you were right when you said skiers seem to like more pop. i dont know about other guys, but ollying high seems a lot harder on skis than a board.

It's not that ollying is that hard....I just think it makes a jib less fun because it limits the options. A nice lip alows for more creativity onto a feature, where as a smaller lip puts more focus on just getting onto and then greaseing a feature. This however makes it far more rewarding when you actually grease the entire jib. So i guess it's just a matter of preference to the builder. Do they want thier park to have features that are hard to get onto and grease making them challening or easier lips allowing for more technical tricks onto them. It seems to be all preference.

well that comes with the territory.

if you have a better poppy lip, then you obviously have more options on what you can do to get onto the rail. disasters, spinning on, etc.

it would be cool if there was a variety of jumps. some step downs, tables, and maybe a step up. i know it's not that easy and we are lacking snow, but a variety would be fun. don't get me wrong, i still love the five rampers in a row.

a step up would be sick if that could happen, or maybe like a step up 10 feet out 10 feet up to a butter pad, then another 15 ft out 10 foot drop off

The park was so fucking sick today. The jumps are money and super fun. I'd love to see a mammoth style table/stepdown thing, but with the way things are right now I can't even ask for anything else. So sick!
