Hey, so I have some older pow skis, i like them but they are on the heavy side.

DO you think skinning with such an old ski, investing into a light pair of alpine bindings and boots be worth it.

yup id say def worth it if they arnt falling apart, and you want to save some cash. i have the orig madens and i fucking still love em. yeah they on heavy side , but i like em and think thed be fine, but i dont do any treking so ya . ha good luck buddy

my first "touring setup" was Maden AK's, Rossi bindings with Trekkers. It kind of sucked on the uphill, but damn it was fun for the down. At the time I was pretty much exclusively doing short sidecountry missions so there wasn't that much up involved.

As long as the skis haven't been used too much to the point where they've lost their flex (no one likes a dead ski) and you don't really want to spend the money on a new setup, I say go for it. If you don't like it, you can always decide to get a new setup in the end.

It's an incredibly easy fix. Take a plastic hanger, snap off two, 1 inch sections of it and tape them side by side on the bottom of the trekker. it's enough to push the brakes down, and also enough height to keep the heel of your boot from hitting your boner heelpiece.
